I had this problem the other day, the screen just went black with no signal, i though that my LCD moniter was broken but it was fine when i restarted my computer.

It has not happened since though.

Its your power supply.

Guild Wars sucks up a mighty bit of energy so that your system can run it. Very stressful game.

I looked over your DX and your system, even if its pretty slow, should run the game long as you play on very low settings with no excess programs running.

I'll guess you've had that computer for the last 3-4 years, which is a long time for a power supply to run for. If you have a spare one or are able to borrow one from a friend, try to replace your current one and check to see if the monitor still shuts off.

I totally agree, it sounds like a power supply problem. That should run the game fine, I do not see anything horribly wrong. Usually if a computer starts, but nothing happens, it will be the blasted power supply.

Sounds good.

Also check your cords just incase. The odd time they might not be plugged in all the way. Its happened to me in the past... =\

There should be a label on the PSU with how much it can handle.

Power supply? I donno where you guys are getting that from. I'm getting the same problem (Radeon 9600SE). Once (only once) I got an error, something to do with the VPU, but I don't know if it was related. Anyways, I thought this problem was being caused by an interaction between GW and Winamp, but even when Guild Wars is the only program running I still get this problem sometimes.

My computer has been running games just fine for years. Quake 3, Half Life, Half Life 2, Jedi Knight 3, even the Doom3 alpha. They all run. Sure I don't get great FPS on my system with some of these games, but they run and the video doesn't cut out like with GW.

Sys specs:
Abit 333r mobo
Athlon XP 1600 (1.54 ghz)
768 DDR RAM
ATI Radeon 9600 SE

More info:

Even after the video cuts out the sound keeps working and I can still use my keyboard to send in game messages.

Occassionally instead of the screen going all black it will get very dim and only display the right half of the screen (like it gets pushed over so the left side of the screen is... off screen)

Ok, hope the laptop works well.

Fate: No dust on the CPU? Your video card might be cutting out. The fan is clean and running smoothly?

Video card has a heatsink, not a fan. And all my fans are working fine. Donno why this problem is happening, but it only happens in this game.

Have you tryed updating video drivers? It sounds like a driver issue.
