Elona Reach (never finished it myself) has to do with the stuff you pickup from the ghostly remains around the edges of the board.
Thirsty River is all about timing. When you hit the last group (three teams) you have to take them all out before the NPC in the middle leaves. Last time I played he left around the 7 minute mark.
