think that chapter 2 should have a different currency

O.K., this should go to the Sardelac Sanitarium game suggestion thing. It wouldnt stop ebayers, they would farm the new currency as well. The reason you want this is you're probably poor. I myself have a good bit of money saved up for chapter 2, and I feel after farming for many, many, boring hours I should be rewarded and be able to get what I want when Factions comes out. The good players and those with experience should reap their benefits, if not then why not reset everything everyday to even it up?

Er, anyway.
Seems like a good suggestion, but I think that's why the primary currencies are Gold, Platinum or monster components- all of those break barriers. Every society in the world (for the sake of clarity) wants gold, platinum, and other precious metals.
Er, also, I'm guessing it may be too late to do such a massive alteration this close to release. >_<
Edit: Dangit, I wouldn't've replied. I thought this WAS in Sardelac.

Sorry, but this would stop nothing. It might take a little while for ebay gold sellers to come back, but they won't be gone forever. You can also take items between campaigns, so nothing would stop you from buying a bunch of materials from a Prophecies trader and selling it to a Factions trader, for example.
Yay, another bad idea. Threads like these are started usually from the viewpoint of people who haven't spent or invested wisely and would really like to see the people who have, start over with nothing. Silly.
Besides, most of the wealthier players worth isn't estimated purely in gold, it's for the most part, rare materials and items. Very nice ones. Wouldn't matter -what- the currency is, those items will still sell, and be worth, a LOT of them.
However..
While we are at it, how about we declare 2006 go for broke year, so that in 2007, they can reset the national economy, absolve credit card debit and level homes, give everyone a polka dotted sack of bologna sticks and let everyone start over from scratch again. Maybe we can trade in pogs next fiscal year...

I think this is also a good idea as well, as it makes everything even.. better yet they shud call it jade pieces. They shud make the merchants and everyone in the Factions map only trade in that currency.. And then the proficies people can play against the factions people in some competitive way to adjust exhange rates lol...

If Anet wanted everyone in chapter 2 to be in the same level field, what was the point of creating Prophecies(ch.1) and then making an expansion. By what you are suggesting, why not just make a completely different game that doesnt associate with each other. Also, then Anet's whole idea of linking or not linking(standalone) goes out the window, bcuz not everyone will be choosing to link probably and those players will be missing ch.1 content on their ch.2(factions) standalone account. Hence, by not having both/ or linked you will already be missing the total available content possible for a game account.
Also, players do not only use "gold" as currency anyways at this time in the game. All tradeable items ingame are already being used as currency.
/g'day.

Yes the SoJ would give +1 to all attributes but it would make your gold worthless. That's it's secondary mod. I believe it reads." Ruins the economy 100% chance" LoL
EDIT: On topic though I would like to say that gold has been a universal currency since the first man was able to pick up a piece and go. " Oooo pretty." True this is real world history versus fantasy land , but it is just more likely that if one developed society on a planet uses gold the others will as well. It's just the way we are. We value the rare and the pretty.
