Soul barbs, are they worth it?

My necromancer is level 17 now at the end of the maguuma (more or less). Ive had soul barbs since i first got it, at the time it was great because the damge it dealt when i put my other hexes on them was great but now 24(ish) extra damage doesnt realy seem to make much of a dent in the enemies im fighting. So i was wondering wether i should the spell or put something else in the slot?

It is worth using in pvp. In pve it is pretty useless like most hexes that affect single target.

useless?? dont thinlk so, try beating a mursaat boss (monk),
its the best skil you can take for fast killing, not only you use hexes but your team members do as well. I take it when I go as curses necro

Its really nice if your team uses a lot of hexes.

Ive gone for blood magic and curses but i onkly have 2 hexes (life siphon and fainthartedness) so if i need more hexes to make it worth while, what would reccomend?

If you're mesmer secondary it goes really well with Wastrel's Worry - especially on bosses with their 1/2 hex duration.

Soul Barbs then Spam Wastrel's.

24 dmg when you stick Wastrel's on, 50 or so (depending on investment in domination) when it triggers. With bosses it'll only stick for 1.5 seconds so there's a good chance it'll trigger.

75 unresisted damage every 1.5 seconds is nothing to sneeze at.

It's more of a minor annoyance than a devastating killer. If you're using plenty of quick cast, spammable hexes, like the aforementioned Wastrel's Worry, it's worth consideration.

I use it in random pvp area. In pve I wouldnt bother with it. There are other more useful skills you could bring.
