Me personally, I'm glad they're doing the rollback. Why did you buy the game if your whole time on it is trying to find ways to get things without earning them. The purpose of the game is to play it..... isn't it?

As far as ANET is concerned, well, I want to play too. But I'm glad I'm not having to pay $20 a month for the same type of gameplay. Hats off to ANET for making a quality game without trying to take everyones cash to play.

well, i did get such things, i found a godamn GOLDY half moon farming hydras, req8 15^50 10/10 , and also a +5 armour staff head AND wrapping wich i added to a colectors staff to make a very effective *defensive wicked staff of defense 20%/20%*, and also about 30K gold and 10k materials

so i AM pissed that they are just ROLLING IT BACK, and not just reversing all trades via merchants during that time, but the reason they are not doing that is that in the TOS there is something about them not allowed to delete items (wich they have already broken numerouse times tho), so they should break it again, as aferall this is THEIR fault and noone elses, and u cant blame ppl for buying all that stuff, i just noticed it 5mins before i got disconected and bought 88shards and nearly 40 sup absorbs.

sure those items should be removed and use refunded, but a rollback of all game activity is lazy and evil, and not needed, at all.

sure it might take them then twice the time to get the servers back up and running, but it will be the fairest thing for everyone.

So if you're on east(New York) the game should be up and running at about 11:30?

Easy fix chief...You write the server code with what you want it to do and submit it to anet with a job application attached...problem solved.

Agreed. ANet has a great decision. That is an unwanted problem, and they do that for the good of the game.
I'm sure that perharps you must do a hard mission again or lose a rare items dropped from mob, but you will feel much better than if everything is going on with the chaotic economy and someone get lots of gold that they hadn't earned them.

And to the guys complaining about them fixing it.... How many superiour monk runes, black dye, ecto and such did you buy during glitch.....

I love that they are fixing this problem as soon as they identified it, it could have majorly crushed the market....

Very happy to know that everyone who tried loading up on the merchandise won't be walking tall while everyone who was out fighting oblivious to it all happening would otherwise become the poor class.

You obviously have no clue as to what lies within the TOS or you didn't pay attention to the entirity of the context.

The fact is I don't understand what your purpose of bitching is, even when you have failed to submit a logical fix for the problem. Do you have any idea how hard it is to rollback certain aspects of a game and how LONG it takes to prune all that unneeded data out, not to mention the risk of even MORE screwups? Your whole idea of reversing just trader transactions is just plain dumb, it would take a server admin a solid day just to prune that information out, then filter for items that were sold for 250g between Time X and Time Y, then do another filter to make sure that someone who bought some blue or other regular colour dye for 250g didn't get reverted. All said and done, you wouldn't have a game to play for about 3-4 days instead of 3-4 hours Come work on these types of games and see just how much there REALLY is to constantly do and the effort involved in even rolling back just a few hours. I'd be a little more appreciative of the effort that Anet's putting into this fix considering the fac that you are playing on their servers for free... but I guess that's just not good enough for you right?

Neogeo im not calling you a lier but i doubt that you found all that "godly" stuff in a few hours... and even if you did, is it going to ruin your whole life to not be a couple K richer? it is just a game, the world is not over.

Nooo.... Looks like no Guild Wars for me today. It's 9:56 now, Central Time. Servers should be back in about 30 minutes. I go to sleep @ 11. No time to play. Got school to take care of.

I went on at about 3:50 Central, 5 minutes before servers were shut down (or whatever they did to them). I noticed that prices dropped because everyone was running around like crazy. I was gonna buy some runes and than... Blank rune trader screen.

It looked like people bought out superior absorption, no more could be found (woah, didn't know there's a limited number in the game... nice). Superior vigor was left.

The superior healing prayers rune was normal, at around 11k or something like that.

Didn't check on the material traders. Oh well.

Comments to multiple ppl...

Jarek, u couldnt have put it better... but u left one thing out... think of how many ppl changed items between accounts, that the admin would have to hunt down, so if they just do "delete x # of black dye from this person" and oh, its not there, so lets search the logs to who he gave it to and, oh, this person gets this much back, and this one this much, oh, and this came off this other guy.... it would be an endless search, specialy when u consider some ppl running 3 accounts or more and... then u have to consider the massive transactions the major ebay dealers do... as we all know its illegal, but making real $ off the game....


And as for the "perfect items" or "godly items" found... that glitch would have totaly pwned the market... think how easy your item would have been worth 1k or so...

the fact is that you're talking server logs which extend to gigs and gigs of data stored in a readable ascii format... this ain't cool and it's the LAST thing a server admin wants. Anet isn't a big company by any means workforce wise (i know a few people at the Seattle office) so it's not like the task becomes shortened having to sift through all that junk. And exactly like you said, you have to go over this stuff with a fine tooth comb to make sure you DONT have to do it over again.

It's always interesting reading users opinions on fixes and whatnot to be honest... as game developers we strive to please the general population of the game and my hat goes off to Anet for doing what they are and providing all this for free to the users. People bitching about a 3 hour rollback is kinda like biting the hand that feeds you imo. Call it a nerf, throw your hands up, stomp your feet, cry like a little baby... if you're not happy with what's going on, I'm sure Blizzard would love to take $15 a month off your hands
