There is no really way of soloing with a monk non 55 if you have a war this would be easier to help you , maybe post your build and i can give some tips on improving.
On the contrary my first toon was a mo/war and I found him capable of soloing just fine. Of course mine was built to kill one target mostly but combining war melee/stances with mo smite ... you can do fine.. just look up some of the spells that do dmg to any area around the monk.
