Internationalizing GW?

I was just watching an Observer Mode match between TE and WAR and noticed something very strange. Last of Master and Soul Wedding (both of EViL fame) were playing for TE. Thats not so strange right? Then I noticed two other names, Krieg Loves Evil and Lulu Loves Evil. If your familar with TE you know these are probably the TE players from the GWWC, but they weren't members of TE, they were members of TEvl (TE+EViL?). This shocked me into thinking, "Is this a first sighting of an international guild where the top players from multiple teams play together?" I sure hope it is. This would suggest that the GWWC was more then a legitimate matchup of great players, it was the beginning of a true GW international community. I work for the US State Department and those of us who care about international dipolmacy love this stuff. When America loses control of the HoH to Korea people in Temple of Ages scream for Korean blood. Not that Anet cares or they have any responsiblity to promoting international friendship, but this isn't a good impression for a generation of young American (or any nationality) kids. However, maybe this kind of activity shows something better. I have a feeling that the guys from the various teams probably did more then just beat each other up on GW. From photos it looks like they actually did real world things like hang out or goto to a Karaoke bar (I am based in China, I have a feeling EViL/WM guys made a push for this option, correct me if I am wrong). This TEvl would suggest these people now keep in contact and actually like each other. Hopefully some of the people talking about how they hate Korea afer they win HOH will look at that and be thoughtful enough to think, "Maybe those people in who took HoH are alot like me; others have found that experience right?"

just wait till alliances come out and the top guilds are alligned. this is what people fear.

Assuming it's alright to say this, but from what I've heard, Te and EviL hit it off very well over the GWWC. It's probably not so much as interest for the sake of being international, as people who could care less about nationality, placing more import on similar interests, and the company of others who are fun to be around. That is to say, the people that care about the regional aspect, and make hateful remarks, are simply people that just want a reason to hate someone [and would find another reason to do it, if not nationality], and people like the members of Te and EviL are more lighthearted and friendly, so they get along well.
Something like that.

The kind of nationalistic speech we see in the mixed arenas and tombs seems bad, but if you listen to the people a bit more, you find out they're the kind of people that tend to find reasons to hate just about everyone else after the fact. No matter what you do, if they decide they don't like you, then you do it wrong.

But that's just my opinion.
And for the record, I also think it's awesome that those 2 guilds get along so well.

Your right it isn't about nationality and I think that is my point. The whole concept of nationhood is in our heads (and our taxes) and GW was a venue for some people to make friends beyond borders. A good example to be sure.

TEvl are rank 7 on the ladder

When alliances come don't be surprised to see the Korean guilds like Evil and War Machine connecting into the unstoppable guild

TeVL did work out because of some national connection. Some of the Te guys are Koreans or at least Korean Americans who speaks the language.
The two guild are now in a love fest and are GvGing together.

TevL is basically an international/alliance PUG group with its core members from Te and EvIL. This is not the first case of this.

In last season (Oct-Dec 2005) there was a guild called VIKI. This was too an international PUG group consisting of elite Am, Eu and Korean players. There are a lot less known guilds out there and I am pretty sure before VIKI.

just a thought here. As much as everyone would enjoy seeing the mix from region to region. Wouldnt "multi-guilding" disrupt the ladder. (ie. they just froze ladder didnt they?)

I am european in an american guild and there are differences, but its funny and enjoyable

I always found it a bit irritating that the only koreans - chinese ppl dunno what nationality they are, are the farmers and irritating sellers. I've never seen any koreans really talk english or a language we can understand, but they maybe think the same of us

It is weird but you are right about Chinese players in the game. Since they don't have a true domain and their english is usually weak they just grind (all big games here in China are for grinding, ala WoW is HUGE). I chat with them in Chinese all the time and they usually are true solo players in a game that loves teamwork.

I'de think it more likely to see the bigger guilds, like XoO, taking over the world rather than ones with only 16 people.
