no other group is critizised and yelled at for actual gameplay than a monk. my ranger, my warrior, my necro, the only time you'll get yelled at while playing one of those is if you aren't careful and aggro something you shouldn't.

no other class is yelled at for HOW they play than a monk. if a ranger/necro/mesmer screws up, the rest of the party very likely won't even notice except something might take longer to kill. if on the off chance a monk makes a mistake, god forbid ... everybody hears about it

those of you saying monks don't have a case/need to shut up, have you actually played a monk for a pick-up-group in a higher level area (i'm not talking about with people from your friends list or from your guild), talking about a random group.

that said, get a grip. it's just a bunch of people having some fun. come join in Thunderhead Keep and have some fun shouting dumb slogans

Frenzy: For 8 seconds you attack 33% faster, but take double (100% more) damage.

I am going to join that strike when i get home. Not because i have been abused but just because too many people are taking this way to seriously. I am just gonna go there and dance and try to get friends to come along, though i dont think i will last 20 mins before i get bored and go off and do some farming or work on another character.

I thought this was going to be fun with people just messing around and not taking it seriously so I took my monk into THK to join in the festivities. I was hoping for something silly and amusing. Unfortunately, I found the exact opposite. Such a pity.

Checked out THK... the monks are still at it.

In my opinion it's getting out of hand. Sure it was kind of cute earlier, but now it's getting old.

It would be awesome if ANET decided to close THK for a while, so that people would cool their heads.

LOL. No other class, right? How 'bout the warriors? Oh wait, that's how this whole thing started.

/cough hypocrite /cough

Anyway, more power to ya, monks. Personally, I find this all pretty humorous, as I did a me/mo as a healer through the desert and southern shiverpeaks, just cuz. And yes, I always asked for feedback and was told I was better that most monk primaries :P

So, basically, if this is in fun or whatever, I'm all for it. However, to those on both sides taking this way too seriously, get over it. A good player of any class rarely gets the praise he/she deserves. Monks are certainly not alone in this category. The big difference is that an incompetent monk will show a whole lot earlier/easier than other classes.

I went to UW last night. Paid for the group. Had to, cause I'm the ranger. Trapper, BTW. Full WS and high expertise, can solo trap enough to lay waste to a group of Aatxes. But I'm not a solo player, I enjoy camaraderie in group and besides, I need backup (rangers, the do anything class, do need help sometimes) so I was carrying other people. I ended up getting through 4 groups of mobs because our warriors were drawing ALL the aatxes to the traps meant for one group.

The nuker refused to nuke, the mesmer tripped over their skill bar (backfiring an aatxe?) and the poor poor monk was stuck with trying to manage all that.

But, NOBODY listened to the directions I was calling, EVERYONE ran in eight different directions, and without my spike build I couldn't drop them fast enough for us to survive.

If people (monks, rangers, whatever) want respect, they have to earn it. I wanted to throw rocks at everyone in that group.

Besides, you want an underappreciated group, take rangers. We can replace wa/mos any day (yes, I can out-dps a hammer warrior.), know all about energy conservation and aggro control, can interrupt, spike, trap, prevent resurrection (can a monk do that?), pull, call and generally be a team unto ourselves (seen it with 8 man trapper teams). Yet we're called ineffective and stupid because a few of us wanna be rambo.

We have been consistently denied groups since the release, yet we still continue to play. Most of us don't even say anything about not being able to find a group, we call guildies/take henches cause we KNOW unless it's something special nobody wants us.

Maybe we should strike.
The thing is, the inept masses dont rely on you, as a Ranger, to keep them alive when you do something stupid. You see they are doing something dumb and all you can do is the same thing you always do well....interrupt, trap, and keep shooting.

When a situation like the one you just described happens, we Monks start having heart attacks because we are suddenly required to be in 4-5 different places at once by people who we know are depending on us. We go through hell for those people and then get insulted when they die no matter how good we are. You never hear a dead whammo say, "Why weren't you helping me, Ranger?!?!?!?!"...no, they blame us.

Don't get me wrong, I love Rangers. Rangers, Mesmers, Necros, and Monks are where the fun's at

Ok how long has this been going on for. At first its funny but NOT ALL WARRIORS ARE NOOBS.

I have created a monk and a warrior. I only person that insulted me as a monk was a mesmer. Warriors get no respect even if I do a REALLY good job. No one says thanks for holding the monsters from kicking the crap out of the monk etc.

This is not a good way to get respect towards others. If you havent been respected before has a monk you should think of getting another profession since obviously your not all that good.

This is getting seriously out of hand, seeing monks doing mission and ruining it at the end is not helping anyone.

A sad day this is, but reminding us how henchmen altho stupid are much better.

And PvE monks have it so damn easy. PvP enemies don't wait for you to regen. PvP monks rarely get batteries as crutches for actual skill either.
You need to get over your player monk hate .

Anyway, in PVE your teammates are the ones who don't wait for you to regen. Also I rarely have a battery in the team I'm in and I certainly never ask for one.

Glad you can hench the game, personally I would rather play with real people.

TO ALL WHO ACTUALLY KNOW THE ANSWER, a question for serious players only

isnt one of the main problems the person or persons who charge off and cant wait until everybodies skills and energy have filled up before going on to the next mob?
