One warrior whispered me and asked what I meant by DPS tank--
And I explained to him that, technically, a warrior can do more damage than any other class over an extended period of time--because of, well, damage, as well as adrenaline. However, I then pointed out fights don't necessarily last that long--and, even then, because of the high warrior armor rating, warriors should leave damage to say, necros or ellies or, hell, even smite monks, and instead should themselves fall back to stance and defense for the best tanking.
His reply?
"But warriors have the highest damage."
"I said that."
"And they have the best armor."
"I said that too."
"SO STFU M8"
Brilliant conversationalist.

Shrug. I just got a party up to the Keep, doing it with Mhenlo. We had 2 drops before the siege started, and then I get blamed because I don't carry a hard res on my bar when 2 of the 4 Warriors in my party ran off and got killed by Mursaat way outside the Gates. I find it funny how there are people flaming each other over it, but it is annoying. If someone devotes their time to help you run through a mission you can't beat, flaming them is not the way forward.
That being said, the strike is hilarious and I'll endorse it just to see more people get annoyed. A stupid thing to do, though - "Oh no, I just got insulted over the internet!"

anyways, good luck striking or whatever monks. I for one appreciate good monking and will tell them when they do good. But I am not about to start paying monks just to come do missions!

I think the THK stress has been building for a while now. I tried to beat it with my ele the last few nights and there we VERY few monks in the area. I also started the mission 6 or 7 times one night only to have the monks drop out after a few minutes (with no reason - no one was pulling too much aggro, no one was taking excessive damage, and most of the time they dropped out before the bridge...)
Anyway I made my ele into an armor tank so that I could just do it with the henchies. It was all going well this morning (must have just missed the start of the monk strike) but I was going to be late for work and I had to close it halfway through the seige.
More power to the monks, but I am going to use scab labor to beat the mission tonight...
Edit: forgot to say that I am putting my mesmer on stike also. Rask, that almost made me cry it was so funny/sad.

I repeat again: you don't need any monks but Lina and Alesia for this mission. Hopefully people will realize this. I'm pretty sure I can hench any mission in the game, fairly easily.
And PvE monks have it so damn easy. PvP enemies don't wait for you to regen. PvP monks rarely get batteries as crutches for actual skill either.

The game is made so that one profession rely on another. This so called strike is childish, disrespectful and giving the game a bad name. Not to forget the monk profession itself. All classes are not giving the respect they deserve whether you are a monk, a warrior or elementalist. What saddens me the most is to see all this kids being so unhelpful, disrespectful and selfish. Especially when I remember how many times i've gotten a AFK monk, ragequitter monk, a monk who just dont do anything or my favorite: Yes i'm a healer; in mission : No i'm a smitter. Great job you guys you all own gw! I'll rely on my guild monks, friends and henchmen while you go and try to get an all smite group for hells precipice!
The best solution to this problem is to have the Monks lead the group, rather than having them be put on the bottom of the group members list. Then you can have those Monks do a background check on the Warriors then invite the good ones.
This isn't the first time I've heard of Monks go on strike. Remember when they nerfed those spells that made Solo Monks so godlike in UW?
As much as the protest seems childish from the posted screenshots, I think it would be better if they said something like..."NO MORE WARRIOR N00BS! WE MONKS WILL NOT JOIN ANY GROUPS WHOSE WARRIORS ACT LIKE LEEROY JENKINS! KK THX BYE"
Still, Monks deserve alot more respect than what players give them these days. Those who play Monks regularly are those who have great reflexes, great coordination, and trust on good teammates and/or guildies to keep them alive. Sadly, they're also the ones scapegoated as excuses for warrior players to put the blame on. Yeah, they're the ones, along with rangers, spearheading an assault; but at the same time, it should be the monks telling them when to do that, and when to just stop and let the casters recharge. Maybe they should demand that Warriors grow some maturity and patience, or else they will never join such a group. Monks will always be in high demand with low supply, but some players need to show more maturity, more flexibility, and work with other group builds where there are two monks, or one monk (i.e. the Tombs Barrage/Pet teams), or just the henchies. I used to play a Healer Monk during the early days of GW's global release, and it was so stressful to play one because of all the inexperienced players who just run in, aggro everything and wipe the whole party out.
Respect your Monks, people, or there will hardly be any of them left for your PUG's. Spread the word in-game
Good idea. Or how about not ressing them when they die. Just let them rot until they decide to just leave in total shame.
I've seen plenty of rage-quitter monks in SF and Tombs, and Monks who don't tell the party that they're Smiters until in the mission.
Monks and Mesmers get the least amount of respect because some players are unwilling to try out groups with a Mesmer in it, or because they get in a mad fit of rage when they get nailed like hell and they find that the monks did not heal them despite a warning about them with low energy, or they're afk, or what not.
If this keeps up, then this will likely be the next line you'll get from a Monk...
"Healer LFG for a high-end mission...GUILDIES AND FRIENDS ONLY!!! That's what you n00bs get for disrespecting us Monks!!! Good riddance, suckers!!!"
