Most preferred second prof for PvE?

I've never had a Mesmer before, looking at some threads Me/W Me/Mo Me/N seem to be popular.

Was just wondering what would be the best second profession for a PvE character, maybe go onto PvP if I get good with the character at lvl 20

Only thing for Me/W I can think of is Illusionary Weaponry.. and thats only used in Random Arena (PVP), no way anywhere else... unless you're crazy. Me/N are popular degens I believe, and enchant removal too.. but those are PVP things. Me/Mo, I dunno about that. Hell, in fact, there is no mainstream usage of mesmers in PVE. They're pretty much non-existant. Though, the mesmer as a secondary isn't too bad. N/Me, Mo/Me, E/Me,R/Me, EVEN W/Me, they're all good.

Basically, just stay away from W/Mo and Mending. :P

Well, I wanted to try out Mesmer, but I haven't unlocked many skills for it yet. So I thought I would make a PvE character to get some skills, then if I like it I could either train it up for PvP or delete it and make a PvP character.

So, what would be best? ^_^

I'd say Necro if your just looking to get the mesmer skills for PvP.

If I was going to make a pve Mesmer ( I have a PvP only) I would make a Me/N and go direct damage and degen.

For a PvP Environment here's some build suggestions that I've seen and run, for the Different secondarys.

Me/W- Illusionary Weaponry (random Arena)
Me/N- Shut Down or Degen or E-denial/Corpse-Control or FC Orders (any type of PvP/GVG)
Me/E- Lite Spike(air magic) or Flareway(fire Magic) or a Machine Gunner (Earth Magic) (Random Arenas) Or an Shut Down or E-denial w/ Gale or Blinds (for GvG or HoH)
Me/Mo- E-denial or Shutdown w/ Martyr & Condition Removal (Mainly for GvG but can be used for HoH
Me/R- I've seen some Illusionary Weaponry builds and Trapper builds in Random Arena's using the Ranger secondary.

Sabor covered PvP, so here's PvE..

Me/W - Illusionary weaponry (not recommended), minor group buffs like watch yourself (impossibly uncommon)
Me/N - Degen (with disease), soul barbs hex damage
Me/E - Blinding (though less efficient than primary), gale for interrupts, fastcast nuker (not really that good)
Me/Mo - Hard res w/ pure mes is most powerful, also minor heals/prots if you choose
Me/R - Unguent selfheal... umm... not alot here, traps cost too much and you don't use a bow or pet (not well, anyway)

Best for PvE - Me/Mo. Pure mesmer is superb, and hard res takes the win.
