We still have no clue what's in the standard and collector's edition box. I'm wondering when Anet will release the information we need to make our decision. I'm more towards the collector's edition, since rumor says it will provide one extra character slot. And I'm still debating which store I should pre-order from. BTW, just saw BestBuy changed their release date of GW:Factions to 4/28/06 (origianlly they posted as 4/03/06), so that's one more piece of evidence that the actual release date would probably be 4/28/06. I think Anet will release the information this week. Your thoughts?

I agree with the OP that I would really like more info (specifically # of new char. slots) before I can make the decision to order or not.

what's to decide, most store will let you transfer your deposit, besides the GW website, ahs everything on the pre-oreder and some on the CE

I think it borders on negligence to your installed base and fans to not have any of these important bits of information out. Why make consumers and stores do all this hopping around, because ANet refuses to pass out information on what I'm sure they already decided upon?

what plusses from a pre-order, the ce, and how many combined slots
is that so hard to simply mention before the box comes out?

bah - plus it'll be oh so funny to see we have to buy the ce to obtain as many more slots as those not linking accounts, or even a further treat, still being 1 or 2 short even going that route.

still tough to really get excited about it with all these key unknowns IMO

There isnt an official release date yet, but I am hoping for 4/28...even though that would only mean 1 more beta...which wont happen....most likely after 8 months of beta...woo for 10/28 release date!

to those of you complaining and you know who you are..............

since you will have a month (minus the few days to the march 24 event) to decide which preorder/CE you want to get i see no problem.

you can use the free pass to the event to look it over and not lose anything since they said any event character created will be reloaded to zero on release

this is a clear case of buying an early preorder and having nothing to use it on until a preorder only event which would be AFTER the march 24 event

now you got it watcha gonna do with it?

Hmm. I pre-ordered my copy of Factions from my Local Gamestop last month. Were they not suposed to take Pre-Orders yet until the official pre-order time is out, or is it alright for pre-pre-orders?

I know the local Gamestop here is already taking pre orders for it. I've got mine purchased already and they have the release date confirmed as the 28th of April. I don't think you can get the pre order package until the 28th of this month but you can certainly put in your order for hte game now. I've heard that there will only be like 500,000 units shipped on release day so I'd suggest getting it while the getting is good.

here is to your rumor

I know it's incredibly boring, but I can only repeat what Gaile has said when asked about rumours in the past:

Until we confirm something, don't set your heart on it being true. If it's a rumour, chances are it's going to be wrong. That's the way these things go, a lot of the time. Someone will talk about something they'd *like* to have, and overtime as more people talk about it it gets twisted into "I heard they are going to do this..."

even if true that they only have 500,000 preorders the first day that leaves how many days to leisurely restock the shelves over and over with no person wanting to buy a preorder missing a thing?

Or it could be another Xbox 360 thing where demand outstrips supply for weeks. I mean we are talking about 500,000 units for the entire US.

who says 500k to begin with anyway?

and we are talking pc software that can be turned around in days not like the good old days of the nintendo care which took 6 weeks to turn around.

a week later another 500k, rince and repeat as necessary.

we are talking at least 6 weeks before anybody could use it so what difference does it make if you buy it 6 weeks (or more) before you can use it or get it a week in advance?

you both can use it at the exact same time with the exact same results.

though i do admit kissing the box each night and saying just one less day until i can..................

does have some appeal

It's just a time saver for me. It lets me not keep track of the release date. I'll get a call when my copy gets there and then I just go pick it up. It also saves me the hassel of trying to find it on release day only to be met by empty shelves at my local game stores.

I bought the preorder package for GW and used it to buy the CE. I don't think most places care which one you are getting if you buy the package.

If those other places do care, then I guess I'm just going to buy it from Best Buy again, since they let me do it before.

well for one thing the main purpose of the 1st preorder package was to allow us to play the beta event (and 1 day earlier) before the release of ch.1. since everyone here has an account we dont really need the preorder package except to tease ourselves (of the assass/rit items) and get more hyped up about the game.

Anet just completing the tourney, they are obviously very busy with their priorities.

Personally, no matter what infos comes out next, Im set on the Collector's anyways (I was/am happy w/ my ch.1 collector's).

This time I am thinking of trying a different route into getting it. Online this time as to going in-store. I only hope it's available early this time "online" as oppose to ch.1's before, where it was late for collector's online availability in my area. (so far nothing from the online vendors I usually go to atm.)

/waits patiently.

I'm just not worried about it since the game itself proabably won't be out untill a month or so after the March 24th event. Just a guess of course. Why am I not worried? Because Oblivion will be out before Factions. (At least I hope so!)

I plan to buy the CE anyway, so I think it would be somewhat amusing to see that happen. I'd prefer it to having not enough slots at least.

More phisking slots complaints...

Given that the 4/28 date is at all accurate, that's just about on the dot for people buying me crap because I'm a year older. Given this, I plan on picking up a pre-order kit if I can, possibly CE depending on what comes in it, since I'll be assured of the money come release time. These plans - as well as my plans to merge my Factions account into my Prophecies account - are independant of the possible dissimilarities in slot counts between linked and unlinked accounts.

I would like to know if I am the only Prophecies player in Creation who is willing to make these plans. Because, for me, the ability to have five or six complete characters with access to everything they're supposed to have access to far outweighs the ability to have eight half-characters which are unable to take advantage of skills and skill combinations which are, most likely, going to be considered basic for merged characters.

Hm hm...don't mean to rant here, but I swore not to post in the other thread anymore, and truthfully, when my merged-account R/E shreds the people who no longer have access to the full skill set of the game, I'm going to be laughing myself sick. Ad I'll be able to do it right quick, because I trust Anet enough, liked the preview enough, and am impressed enough by various screenshots to know that they Done Good.

Cheers, fellas. May us stupid, undiscerning pre-order package account mergers dominate the complaint-riddled masses from now until the End of All XP.

That's a great idea, moving the slot discussion to this thread after you swore not to post in the other one anymore.
