My first orange item drop! Major rune.

I was doing the bonus mission last night in Borlis pass and finaly got my first orange item drop. It was dwavern armor or something, salvage item. But it said major rune of earth or something. It had bad stats, -50 health but improved earth elemental. Which is cool cause im an elementalist. I used my expert savlage kit but only got a staff upgrade for +7 energy or something. bah..


anyway question. If i salvaged a major rune how much is that worth? Is it better to try selling the orange item unsalvaged? Ive heard majors can be anywhere for 5-15k.

I tend to go by what's said in this thread for prices.

Major runes aren't worth anywhere near that of Superior runes, as they tend to just act as placeholders for when you can obtain the Superior. This brings the value right down.

You'd be lucky to get 2k for that Major. Especially since it's -50 Health.

Quick question, and sorry if I hijack your thread. How do you remove an applied rune to replaced it with another? If I try to salvage I don't always get what I want and I lose my item.

Just apply the rune...it will overwrite the one currently on whatever it is on. It should anyway...that's how upgrades work.

You cant get the rune back this way, but you can replace it.

You lucky, I had an orange drop yesterday, A sword with 9 swordsmanship req and 17% extra damage against Charr.
Completely useless and have seen better blue items.

Ok I'll accept that, but how does one replaced an applied rune? Does a superior replace its subordinate when applied?

To replace any rune you just need to do what IOU said. Double click the rune and apply it to the armor. I belive that it will ask you if you want to replace the current rune, but im not shure.

You can replace any rune with any other rune.



EDIT: Damn, I said "rune" about 59 times in this post

So when you get a rune and you have ID'd it how do you then use it as I picked up a number of them and they just come up with the same symbol as when they were picked up with the caption of Highly salvagable

stupid question here but NEVER seen an orange item before seen white blue purple and gold but never orange. you sure it was orange. Have done borlis pass several times and got a couple of gold items several purple and blue but never an orange

Somewhere along this same topic, anyone else HATE getting purple items that have absolutely nothing on them and simply increase in value when they are identified. It doesn't list "precious" either or anything. The "unidentified" marker goes away and it just increases in value a bit.

Yellow/Gold/Orange...all the same ...

I think ppl just see it differently for whatever reason.

I call them yellow, you call them gold, he calls them orange

It was definately orange and not yellow/gold. I know my yellows, and this item aint it.

Thanks all for the responses, Now I am trying to decided if I want to continue my axe or switch to swords, can't find many axes better than my 6-17 I have. Getting frustrating.

To make things clear: All major runes subtract 50 health, all superior runes subtract 75.
