Now I know the ideas a bit odd, but I had an idea for a PvE build that might work out decently...

W/R, If strenght does what I think it does, it adds to the chance of armour penetration, and over all physical damage...

Now...
If I were to make a W/R And use Strength, and Marksmanship with a bow...

Would strength add to my damage with a bow?
Or no?

Actually I think this does work. This may be a good damage dealing build. Strength gives 1% armor penetration for every point and, it says it increases damage for ATTACK SKILLS. Marksmanship says it increases damage done with a bow. So therefore there is no reason it shouldn't work. I might try this with my w/r tonight........HHMM 10% sundering string+ max Shadow bow+ 12 in strength = good chances for armor penetration and critical hits. Cool?

Uh... wouldn't it be better for the War to have a high Strength along with 16 in a weapon skill rather than 12 in Marksmanship? Base damage is still more important in the long run. Amror penetration is just a bonus.

It will slightly increase your damage, but trading that tiny bit more damage for the uberOMFG1337ness of Expertise is a horrible, horrible idea.

it would probably work, but then it's still a bad idea. why? the warrior is meant to do damage, something it does very, very well. even better than an elementalist. 16 in axe mastery would pretty much kill anything in your way pretty fast. but if you take 12 in marks and 16 in strength, you're basically kicking yourself in the ass in terms of damage.

even with a horn bow (10% ingrained armor penetration) on top of the 16% you've got, you still wouldn't be able to match an axe warrior running around, hacking away.

But 10% along with 16% and an attack like penetrating shot = 46% armor penetration 0_0. Even though in raw damage you aren't as effective, it'll give those guys a huge surprise. Assuming you're using an elemental string. 46% AP against a warrior is 80/2=40. Meaning on that full armored warrior, you're hitting 25% harder than on a spellcaster normally. I didn't factor in shield but thats one damn powerful attack.

Dont forget Penetrating attack. +20% penetration and cost 10 energy.
Adrenal skills work when you hit with a bow, so using bonetti defense when you were being att by someone to gain energy isn't a bad idea.

And yes an axe warrior do more damage than a Heavy ranger, but you forget of little thing: 12 marks barrage + max strength = 16% pen attack with a +12-14 to everyone close to your target and cost only 5. Favorable Wind can help for a heavy ranger to do some more damage mixed with a preparation (Read the wind for exemple) if they dont want to waste their energy. Traps, forget it, stance, Storm chaser and Bonetti are a good way to gain energy when struck.

Bow attacks, you must choose carefully. Some costs 10, 5 and one with 25 energy. Like I said upper, penetrating att cost energy 10 and Barrage is 5 energy.

By the way, If you want to hit really hard for one shot skill set, you need a monk smiting. The reason? .... You'll see (tested by myself with my friend while he's playing a smiting monk)

Strength= 10
Tactic = 10
Marksmanship =12

Skill
Read the wind
Favorable wind
Pen attack
Bonetti defense
(Rest is up to you)

Using an old purple max bow this time with 15% dmg while HP above

The Monk..... Judge insigh

Imagine the damage after that when I used Pen att while I still have FW and RTW

Lol, Judges FTW,
I recently Posted in the J.I. Thread and got a convo going in there too...

Yeah...
So, general consensus is the builds a half decent Idea...

I mean, It'd be interesting to see how the PvP Noobs of CT treat a lady warrior with a bow...

"OMG GET THE UBER 1337 TANK, AND WE'LL WINZORZ!"

May I ask you this Francis....
Along with your smiting friend....

A necro with... ere say... *looks around* Weaken Armour...

Yes... Excellent...

Ha ha ha Lol dont give me any idea to create a 4 players one shot build with a Smiting Monk, a Cursed Necro, a Warrior/Ranger and, maybe, an Order Necro (with blood ritual if he can help the warrior to gain energy to shot more attacks skills)........ This can be deadly VS one person at a time

4 players one shot build
Look, already at 10 str. , you do 10% pen (DUH)
- 10%+ 25% (pen att)+20% holy (J.I.)= 55% pen att (can go up to 65% with sundering effect is you have one) and more dmg with pen. att.
- Take the fact to have 15% dmg from the bow and 20% if you customize it.
- Weaken armor (-20 armor) from the cursed necro and Order of the Vampire/Pain from the other.

I dont dont know the total dmg but this one can hit butt for unexpected players in PVP(looks like an Ranger Order spike btw)

Yeah, I was thinking about that.
That or Melandrus Resilience.

Flourish has about two wys to use it (same for Melandru Resilence). It gains you energy for each recharge attack skills and instant recharge for them. Melandru, HP regen+3 ( since the update) and energy +1 for each hex and condition on you for an amount of time. Both are good.

Francis... throw in a Ranger with the express duty of Crippling the battlefield. That should keep them offa you for a bit. So it'd be:

Mo with J.I.
N with Weaken Armor
W/R heavy ranger
and a R with Crippling Shot + Pin Down + Apply Poison

hee hee hee

hee hee hee Dont forget Hunter shot with that . Bleeding and poison are degen best friends when they're stacking.

So, we have, in short:

Monk with Judge Insight
Necro with Weaken Armor
W/R as Heavy Ranger
Ranger for Crippling and Conditions

-7HP degen from poison and bleeding
-20 armor from Weaken Armor
About +50% armor pen from Penetrating shot, Strength and Judge Insight

Lightning Elementalist with that? lol!

Have any of you ever read the description for strength? I'm pretty sure it only affects melee attacks..so this thread is null and void.

Strength: When you use attack skills, each point of Strength gives you 1% armor penetration. Many skills, especially those related to surviving and inflicting damage, become more effective with higher Strength.

Any attacks skills.
