Everyone needs to have atleast one character they can use to farm items and make gold. Although this thread could potentially go under the builds forum I'd prefer to leave it for chat at the Inn . Many people love to say that W/M are great for farming and others say W/N. I created this to find out what people think is most effective. At this point and time I've taken a break from my main character to make a W/M something I haven't even tried in beta.

This is what I'm trying to see how good/bad it is.
W/M

Axe, Strength, Healing, Tactic skills --> Only level 12 atm

Cyclone
Dismember
Executioner Strike
Frenzy
Healing Breeze
Mending
Sprint
Restore Life

*Skills are always subject to change as I play with them and find new ones.

Nothing risk nothing gained. Not looking for moronic comments from flamers. I'm curious to what people think is best, what people are thinking about trying or have tried because they enjoy experiementation.

Nice!! I saw a N/W video that he killed undead mobs pretty well too. I haven't seen any good W/Mo videos yet and how fast they kill. Mo/W killed pretty damn fast which is kewl especially for farming. I'm assuming they built up Smiting 10, Healing 10, Protection 10, and Tactics 5 maybe? Not too bad, I may try that sometime in the future when I'm bored with characters I have now. Gotta love different builds and trying different things Makes the game fun.

I used a Monk/necro build to farm with. I was like a minion necro in d2. I would use heals on my minions with the poison nova for when they were gonna do. I would usually take the mage henchman with me but in certain instances I didn't need anyone because I literally had 15 minions running around.

In order from left to right.

Healing hands (healing prayers) ~Elite~ Monk
Balanced Stance (Tactics) Warrior
Balthazar's Aura (Smiting) Monk
Symbol of Wrath (Smiting) Monk
Healing Touch (healing prayers) Monk
Zealot's Fire (Smiting) Monk
Sprint (Strength) Warrior
Reversal of Fortune (Protection) Monk

These are the skills on his bar, as far as the attributes go its anybodies guess. This is what refund points are for fiddle with it. I'd imagine his healing prayers and his smiting are his two highest attributes; probably a couple sitting in divine favor too, but its anybodies guess.

Looks like he's keeping balthazars aura, zealot's fire, Symbol of Wrath & healing hands active throught the battle.

To make a M/W like you saw in the video these are the skills as posted above with additional information.

Healing Prayer - 10 (w/o bonus)
Smiting Prayer - 10 (w/o bonus)
Protection Prayer - 8-10 (w/o bonus)
Tactics - 8 (only if protection wasn't maxed)

If you look at the skills Balanced Stance and Sprint doesn't get better as you add points to tactics. This video you see the character farming, not playing with a group. His skills would switch when he does group play. Knowing that you can probably all together ditch adding points to tactics and strictly add points to monk side I would assume.

Healing hands (healing prayers) ~Elite~ Monk
Balanced Stance (Tactics) Warrior
Balthazar's Aura (Smiting) Monk
Symbol of Wrath (Smiting) Monk
Healing Touch (healing prayers) Monk
Zealot's Fire (Smiting) Monk
Sprint (Strength) Warrior
Reversal of Fortune (Protection) Monk

*On a side note I didn't see a major difference between armor of an Elementalist vs. Monk armor. Depending on the armor you'd choose you would gain bonuses to skills or take monk armor with +energy and +energy regen. If you are just going for the regen it's quite possible to do a Elementalist/Monk if you can handle not having sprint or balanced stance (stance he used only to not get knocked down by the big guys). If you could handle not having both warrior skills you could make a build like this.

E/Mo
Healing Prayers - 10
Smiting Prayers - 10
Protection Prayer - 8
Engergy Storage - around 8

Difference would be more of a mana pool. That guy obviously didn't really need it but it would be useful for group play, and having more mana means you can caste more frequently. It's something to could hypothetically be tried out to see how it works.

I wouldn't worry too much about you build and remaking a character. Apparently from what I've heard is they have nerfed some areas that got farmed such as the river and what not. I'm sure you're W/M could farm just as effectively given you find the right spot and right monsters. It is a good video though and I was thinking even if he didn't do skills way I suggested I think my way would be as effective too.

*Keep in mind he is level 20. Idealy to level and quest better you would want to focus on being a main healer/protection spells. Then as you got closer to 20 then max smiting for farming anyway. Most groups wouldn't want a Mo/W to try and do just smite damage. The skills focus on you taking all the damage, returning massive damage, and healing from hits taken. In a reg. group you wouldn't be able to get hit as much and do damage that effectively.

I was thinking that it would be very possible to do just about the exact same build except for a W/Mo. Just use that enchantment that gives 1 energy for each hit taken, and you are in business.

I have a W/E which I find very easy to use to farm for.. well, for whatever. But all you need is a class attribute that can withstand the attack (however they do it) and then a class blast attribute that's gonna make things quick and easy.

I think most combo's could manage it, when I was lvl 9 I was blitzing groups of lvl 3 hulking stone elements and obviously now I'm lvl 17 I can managed something a bit harder. A warrior might withstand more damage for longer than a ranger, but that doesn't make farming impossible for a ranger.

What I think you DO need, is a good area attack.. then you're sorted

I'm sure any build can farm, but the question is how effectively. By effectively I'm considering time spent farming vs. output you get. Many people do not want to spend a whopping 24 horus farming time to only get 1-2 orange, purple, gold items. We want to know we are getting some worthwhile items during the time we put in. If you spend only 2 hours farming and come out with nothing to show for it then might be a time to try a different character. It all comes down to how much time you want to spend and what you get out of it. I personally do not want to spend time farming and get no results best option for me is making a jobs that can kill mobs relatively quick over and over. Not many people want to spend 80 hours of MF or farming time like in D2 and get only a freaking Immortal King Maul and a Shako (*rofl* the horror)

Each person will have to decide on their own what works for them. For me time is precious I only get to play a couple hours a night if I'm lucky. Between questing, missions, leveling, farming, and trying new builds I don't want to waste a lot of time.

What's that skill you're using that knocks down the enemies?
