pets

im pretty new to the game and i just started a ranger and can now charm a pet. my question is how many pets are there in the first part of the game and can you tame a bear?

i am pretty sure u can tame the bear. the other animals are; a wolf, moa bird, warthog, and the lynx. I think thats all but i could be wrong.

have you tamed a bear? every time i try its knocks me down, whut shuld i do?

The bear cannot be tamed in pre-searing, so don't bother

Are all the pets the same? I understand the "Beast Mastery" skill increases their damage and what not, but is there any real difference between the pets? Do they have different skills? More HP than the other? More Damage? I mean does it really make any difference which pet you have?

i think if you had a bear, itd prolly be a lot stronjger and more health, but not as fast

It can be done! I'm in pre-searing and have a bear.

Getting a bear in pre-searing is very difficult. You and a friend (as the party max is only 2) need to be of very specific professions and have some of the skills from the quests. You need to be able to keep the bear interrupted long enough for the charm to go all the way through without it being broken.

Ok I'm a ranger and out of pre (and I have been for a while) how do I tame a bear? What skills do I need and where do I find the bears.

This is an old thread; from what I've heard, Anet changed it so you can't tame one in Pre-Sear anymore.
