Ok, ive been trying different methods to ascend my ranger for a while.
I looked at the how to kill doppleganger post, but using all spirits doesnt give me enough time to kill him.
Does anyone have anyother methods?

Pretty easy to beat as a Ranger, just equip skills that increase damage from your bow attacks and fill up your skill bar with useless stuff like beast mastery skills. As soon as you go in, run up to the dopple and stay close and he will switch to his axe while you pound him with dual shot, power shot or whatever, doing far more damage blow for blow than his axe. Shortbows work better for this but any other type will do too.

That's not gonna work with a level 10.
Six spirits and two attack skills. He casts the sprits first you have thrity seconds of pure unadultered smack to lay on him.

i agree, i did it at lvl 12 brough 5 spirits, poison arrow, and i think mabye a trap i cant remember. the rest was attack skills. he'll start with spirits and then you just keep him poisoned and keep hitting him with attack skills. Just make sure you meet the req of your bow. whats left dump in expertise

The spirit thing worked for me my game plan:
skills: troll ungent, distracting shot, rest spirits (just not fertile season)
while hes casting a spirits do damage - interupt when he uses troll ungent - cast a spirit so that he interupts you and then use troll ungent - repeat ...
This can take a while and if he gets troll ungent off you're pretty much done for, but it should solve the problem of not staying alive long enough to kill him ... I may have brought determined shot but you pretty much get the idea.

but i will try True, they don't do a ton. I ascended my Ranger/Mesmer at level 11, using the spirit trick and 2-3 attack skills, and rather quickly too. So I'm positive a level 10 can do it, just keep trying, you'll get it.

Just a word of warning. I reccomend leveling to 16 and 3/4 as this will be much easier from leveling from 16 to 20. What I mean is, you don't automatically hit 20 on accension. You get 50k exp and that is it. If you aren't 16 and 3/4 you won't auto 20 you will fall short and that can be very annoying for getting groups in droknars and beyond.
