Is this possible, was just curious if I should be going for a gold instead if I want to use the bow strings.
TIA
IMHO, Greens are great for casters, but for rangers and tanks, I generally prefer gold items. There are some good green bows out there, but more than likely to get that perfect bow for your build, you'll want something with a slightly different mod. When choosing a bow ask yourself these questions:
Do I want a bow that
- has a faster refire rate (i.e. more shots per minute)
- shoots arrows faster (i.e. less time taken for arrow to travel to target)
- has longer range.
- is compatible with Conjure Flame/Lightning (associated with Ele secondary)
- works with Spinal Shivers (associated with Necro secondary)
- increases dmg by up to 15% in stance, while enchanted, while hexed, while health is aboce 50%
- increases length of enchantments
- increases marksmanship +1 up to 20% chance
- increases health
- increases armor (against just elements, physical, or all)
- has armor penetration up to 10% chance
- lengthens poison
- steals up to 5 health at the expense of health regen of -1
- steals 1 energy at the expense of energy regen -1
For my build, I made the following bow:
Gold Longbow
damage + 15% (while health is above 50%)
Lengthens poison on foe 33%
armor + 5
I don't use stances much, never use enchantments with my ranger, usually use apply poison, and prefered increased armor over increased health. Also I prefer the longbow for it's increased distance since I can cripple warrior enemies from a distance and stay safe. Also favorable winds, quickshot, or read the winds can always be used to lower projectile flight time and lightning reflexes can be used to increase refire rate.
