Disable rank emotes for a day?

I was getting tired of PvE and thought I'd try PvP. I went to the random arenas, and had a ton of fun. But the random arenas didn't use too much strategy, so I thought I'd try out tombs.

So I set up my necromancer for an order build, and went looking for an IWAY team, good start for new tomb players right? Not too much coordination or intelligence involved.

For somebody with 0 rank, I got nowhere, I was quite annoyed. I must have been kicked out of 7 teams because I didn't have the required rank. Are people really this narrow-minded? Ok, maybe i'll go look for a Minion Factory or something... Oh what's that? Rank 3 required? *booted*. This "rank" system completely smashed my perspective of PvP.

I want to see what would happen if ArenaNet temporarily disabled the rank emote for day, or even a week. I could walk in tombs and find people having epileptic fits on the floor. I could... I dunno... Join a team! Have fun!

What are your opinions on this?

Rank is not a great system.

You DO need an indication of someones experience in tombs, and how good they are. If I ever (god forbid) go pugging in HA I would ask to see rank. Why? Because if you take a rank 3 player you know they have SOME experience of tombs. I don't want to destroy my chance of success by unwittingly taking a couple of new players, who wont have a clue whats going on. I play to win, sorry.

Now, the problem is that rank is farmable. This is why it isn't worth as much as it should be, because you can run weak builds that give you quick wins or losses and just rake it in. If you lost fame everytime you lost a match, in the same way that you lose rating when you lose a GvG.... Then the rank system might actually work.

But its here and it's not changing any time soon, so if you want to complain about it join the que. It goes back a few blocks.

Simple just get a good guild and get fame with them. You will have much more fun and be more organised.

True true, I agree with you all to some extent. However, I dearly want to see what would happen to tombs if you couldn't "/rank" for awhile.

yeah..i'm sick of the rank system....ever since that iway thing..theres just been a whole load of people gaining fame really easy..while the people who want to play a less....common build can't join because they didn't fame farm..i'm rank 1 only i think..but i have a lotta skills unlocked for PvP, common skillsets unlocked...and i'm usually very good at PvP, but since i'm not rank 3..i'm stuck with random teams that don't have a inkling of co-ordination..so its either go IWAY and lose my dignity, or be stuck with random teams. and i can't do Tombs with my guild because i'm practically the only PvPer in it...such great fun

i will use my friend list/guild ...

if i cant get full group with that i will try to ask other member to check friend list. if the group is still looking for member i will check on local LFG if i know some of LFG are good.

i guess if nothing on top work i will find a PUG...
