Im not sure what would work well with my mm build for a secondary. I plan on getting death to 10, soul reaping to 11, and an unknown attribute to 11. I was leaning towards ranger, but i've nevery played as a necro or ranger.
Yea. Im looking for a good secondary to support my Necros MM style. If anyone has any feed back on this guys post I will like it too. Now im gonna start searching some more.
Monk is good for heal area but not until you are high lvl to put some attribute points into it. But for an MM, secondary won't help much.
My minion master build at the moment.
16 Death (12+1+3)
11 Soul Reaping (10+1)
9 Blood (8+1)
OoB
Taste of Death
Blood of the Master
Verata's Sacrifice
Animate Bone Horror
Animate Bone Fiend
Vengeance
Last spot is either Blood Renewal or Rotting Flesh
for the most optimum MM effeciency, go for N/R
16 death
11 soul reaping 8+3 (the less life you got the less you sac while keeping minions alive)
rest in wilderness survival
fiend
minions
blood of the master
verata sac
death nova
taste of death
serpents quickness
healing spring
strange being a MM you dont need a elite
when SF farming with a MM you dont need minions/death nova/taste of death.
you might as well put in more offensive spells like tainted flesh or enfeeble/virulence or rotting flesh, deadly swarm etc.

For a MM you want death to be 16 so you can raise level 18 minions - 12 +1 (hat) +3 (rune). End game you fight level 20-28 critters and level 12 minions won't be very effective.
Heal Area helps early on even with lowish points in Healing, then is replaced with the necro spells as mentioned. Still monk is a good choice.
Invest the last points into blood for some life stealing attacks to inflict armor-ignoring damage and heal yourself and use Offering of Blood for additional energy for raising minions. Plus you can get a bonus from a rune for it, as opposed to an attribute from your 2nd profession.
Well, personal preferance will always come into play when you decide what is 'the best' secondary or skill set to choose. I personally play a ne/ra most of the time when I am a MM, as the rangers gives you a lot of versatility. You can use healing spring, or bring a pet (no attributes in beast mastery) as a portable corpse.
BBoy_Manchild, while it is ture that you don't need an elite, I have found that Offering Of Blood {E} can be very useful to get a quick energy surge after a battle, while you are raising your horde.
OoB, i wonder if its worth it, i only have 6 points left over after maxing death and SR, i dont see a lvl 4 blood magic OoB being very effective
edit: been messing around today with my MM necro because of the new UW, and i have to say N/E is pretty good with glyph of renewal
Skills:
1.Blood of the Master
2.Verata's Sacrafice
3.Animate Bone Horror
4.Animate Bone Fiend
5.Glyph of Lesser Energy
6.Glyph of Renewal (E)
7.(Free Slot, depends on area)
8.Res Signet
or
7.Animate Bone Minions
8.Death nova
I use glyph of renewal right before verata's, meaning an instant recharge so the +10 health regen on my minions is always up. Glyph of lesser for fiends, for energy management. Remember, the Glyph's fall under no attribute, so I can focus all my points on Death and Soul Reaping.
Animate Bone Horrors, let them run out and die whilst casting Death Nova on them for 100+ dmg, works nicely.
