Chapter 2 has been beta for a very long time. I don't know how long they get to play for but hopefully they learn from their mistakes.

Since Anet likes to reference to Magic for a game model they should also know that Magic's R&D teams is comprised of all tournament champion players. When ever they did not have players on the R&D teams players always found a way to use a card that was never intended to be that way and warped the game. Then the bannings would happen. Players will always be smarter than devs so its better to let the players make things.
The thing is, Anet can easily rebalance skills at any time. There is only so much you can do to Magic cards using errata. It's also a lot easier for Anet to gather data on skill usage. Personally, I think they've done a good job at balancing the game. If you watch the playoffs, you can see that there are many different builds being used by the top players. If there only two or three builds being used, there would be a balance problem.

Main reason I got this game is the streaming tech. WoW takes you offline 2 days each week for updates. Took me 3-4 to install an update. I looked at what it was for and saw they fixed a button in a menu and fixed some server bugs.

We will see how long this game last. How many chapters of the game have been developed? How many are they planning to make? I hope this game will be going strong in a few years. Their streaming tech is what is going to get them there. I have not had many problems with the nerfs they have done. I like games to change.

I think I'll mess around with a Monk/Ritualist, sounds like it could be a good combination in regards to healing etc... I don't think I'll bother with an Assassin or Ritualist primary until I finish the game with the Mo/Ri unless its in PvP.

For me, it depends on the amount of character slots we get, really. If we got only one new slot, probably will make a A/Ri or Ri/A, but if we get more, I'll have more room to experiment or even start a ranger or a monk, which are the two classes I don't have a character yet.

I could see more people going to where they can switch to /Ri or /A and switching to unlock the new skills, than making a Ri/A or A/Ri. These classes just don't look like they would combine well.

Since chapter 2 is stand-alone, there will be players starting for the first time, so maybe the problem will not be as bad as we think.

I'm trying to decide whether to take my warrior through Factions first or play through it with an Assassin first...

On one hand, being one of the first people to have the "new 15K" (or whatever it will be) is appealing. So is the fact that there will be fewer warriors present, so invite rates should be higher for the Warrior (something truely rare in PvE simply because of the shear number of warriors).

On the other hand, I also want to absorb as much of the storyline and experience as possible. I don't think this will be do-able with a level 20 character with the best armor already. Level 20 Characters most likely will not start on the first mission and may miss some of the storyline.

well i think they'll be able to do all the mission ion cantha they just won't be able to go to the tutorial place(forgot the name) which is prolly the only thing old players would really miss out on. otherwise every mission should be accessable for anyone that has chapter2.

Of course, at first, everyone's is going to want to test out the new classes. I personally don't see an assassin/ritualist being a good combination, just based off the leaked skills list I saw, but that may well change. In due time, and maybe even before the end of the event, people will be used to the classes and they will melt into the usual professions. I'm definitely going to try out a Mo/Ri or a Ri/Mo to help my guild pull off some wins before the end of the weekend.

Of course, you will have a larger proportion of Assassins/Ritualists in the Chapter 2 outposts and the same for Chapter 1 professions in Tyria solely due to those people who only have bought a single Chapter.

I'm definitely making a Assassin primary, not because it is new but because the armor is so nice. It definitely beats the warrior's clucnky armor.

So far I have e/w/n primary in that order... so it only leaves monk, ranger, mesmer

I don't want to be monk primary because it looks chubby and the hair is pretty much only bald, mesmer looks like a fuitcake that loves pink, and ranger... I needed a pvp slot but rangers are cool (assassins are cooler though...).

Smart people will make a Ri/* and A/* to get the best rate of unlocks. It's far easier using a blank class with a core to ensure you'll get the most unlocks for both professions chosen. For example, Ri/Mo should be able to unlock EVERY Ri and new Mo skills in one roll, so then it's just the matter of repeating the process for the A and other cores. People will also want to take their existing characters through the new chapter to add skills, so there should still be a fair amount of variety.

Well, I read that you will be able to change your secondary proffession to assasin or ritualist in the first part of the new chapter. I'd like a Monk/Ritualist or Warrior/Assasin, so instead of making a whole new character, I could just switch my secondary. This might decrease the amount of primary assasins or ritualists, so it won't be completely flooded with them..

My main character is my monk, and will always be my monk. Everyone has a main character, and I don't think many people will stop playing them just because there's a new profession.
Same here. Besides : my guild would probably kick me if I ever changed something about my monk

I'm pretty sure we'll see loads of as/rit or rit/as in the first few weeks , but after that folks will begin examining which combinations work best and we'll see actual "balanced builds " appearing . Those combinations will most definitely include the original professions,in my opinion.

A lot of people say that they don't see A/Ri working well.

If the assasain is melee.
And the Ritualist has a healing/protecting line.
You should expect A/Ri to be the new W/Mo.

Just my thoughts.

i think the protection/healing line of the ritualist wont be as direct as the monks. i think it will come from the spirits he can summon, so it wont be just click and heal type of healing/protecting
but if the ritualist could summon a spirit called mending spirit, then i would ask myself some questions

btw, i will make a A/R and a Ri/?, why? cuz they re new and i want to try them out ( but i hope it wont distract me too muchfrom using my monk or ranger, unless i really like them )

just my 2 k worth but i dont think that we'll beeing alot of a/ri, being used i think you either see the combo of the a/* or */a or vice versa for the ritualist. being from the stand point that i believe that the 2 new prof will work better (imho) with other classes, altough some of the a/ri will work ok..

well the operator is asking for more money to continue this..gotta go...

Im not going to lie: when ch2 comes out, i will make an assassin, that very well may be an a/ri, and so will everyone else, untill no one can find a tank or monk....
