how good are hero assassins with skill chaining?

2 questions:

1. If I put the Lead Attack/Off-Hand Attack/Dual Attack skills into the hero assassin's skill bar, will they use them in the proper order?

2. Is it okay to put 2 skills for each type of attack in the skill bar (giving the computer more options to choose from)? Or is 1 skill of each type better?

Yes, they will use them in the right order. They will also use multiple ones of the same type. What I never spent time to notice is how they choose which one to use. Generally speaking I have one that's on a longer cooldown and one on a shorter one, so they end up using the long cooldown one when its up. One example though: Wild Strike vs Fox Fangs. If you slot them both, the hero won't always kick off wild strike, but it will if it's needed.

That said, I think ranger heroes make better hero assassins than assassin heroes, especially if you use a zealous dagger. Since they don't have PvE skills, it's easy for them to use Expert's Dexterity as an IAS. You just need to be careful to allow them to have "unblockable" attacks, since the hero won't have Asuran Scan. Due to having expertise cranked up, assuming they hit and zealous kicks off, the attack are basically free. The Hero can spam to their hearts desire. You loose some damage from no critical strikes or dagger mastery runes, but I prefer the extra elem armor on the ranger. In fact, that's about the only thing ranger heroes are good for.
