gw1 down due to gw2?

Anyone else can't log into gw1 due to the issues with gw2.

I cant log on eighter, getting err 042

Both GW 1 and GW 2 are down at this point.
GW 2 people smoked the servers, and since GW 1 & 2 seem to share servers at this point..

Well i don't know about GW2 since i don't have it yet, but can't connect on gw1, it says code 42

3 headstart is a joke , finally could log in after a zillion tries and then i get kIcked again for a 'wrong password' before i even played one hour ?
And then i can't login whatever i try in GW2 or GW1 .

It's a disguise, it's basically a stress test, and when all media has eyes on the official launch, they'll say it went all smooooooth.

its the same what hackers do to compromise server. They flood the server with request (usually with the so called Ion Cannon) and the server can't handle all the input.

The best thing you can do at that point is keep the hands off your gw1+2 and wait for an official "go"

I recall there were similar issues with Diablo 3 when it launched. Hopefully they will resolve the issues soon. Ironically, I just received an email from ncsoft saying "Your Guild Wars 2 Headstart Has Begun!"

i have another theory though

Maybe they shut down the GW1 server seperately and remove all duped items exist.
Will take a lot of time you know, we can expect the servers back at August 28th
They just let it look like GW1 and 2 running on same Loginserver

Its rediculous that GW2 issues are having a negative effect on GW1 connectivity.

Anet should fire the employees who thought that would not be a bad idea!

It's called a DoS attack, and it's to deny the service of the designed target..

Also cannot login to gw1/2/support...

If only we could get an official response here, it would have been nice

Dammit, I was afraid this would happen. Or afraid something would happen. I don't know if they're using the same servers, but to me that would seem really dumb. If 2 is going to keep me from playing 1, I want my money back, or give me 2 for free (tongue-in-cheek). I hope they don't take forever to fix it; weekends are the only time I can play.

Makes for a great time to run errands, eat, take care of bodily functions, shower, play golf, other games, etc.

OTOH, shared servers means Anet will automatically continue to support GW as long as GW2 is running.
