I too noticed the sudden drop in ruby/sapphire prices. Glad I sold all of mine weeks ago
I was still a noob during the duping exploit in 2007, can anyone tell me how that incident affected the market? Will it happen again if anet doesn't act quickly?
Have you reported this to anet?

Yea, I found several weird things too recently. Last week a guy in kamadan was selling 4th and 5th year BD presents at really cheap price, when I asked him how many he has, he told me he has over 200.
2 days ago another one was selling 18 celestial rabbits for 30k/ea(usually 50~60k, so apparently he's not a power trader and these can't be bought from other players). Not sure about this one maybe he's just super lucky with the lunar fortunes.

There's still many items that legit players want, but anyone could benefit from essentially free items. Especially the gold sellers.
NCsoft/arenanet can benefit also. If many plan to only play gw1 for their collections and then everything get devalued bigtime, they might not care about hanging out in gw1 as much. They may have to move to gw2/Diablo 3 and start collections there.
I mention this because they have already began devaluing rare mini's by hinting that people can get them out of gifts. If people are duping 7th year gifts too, then it's just a matter of time til the market is completely flooded. Which will also help the company who is supposed to put a stop to this.
Then the only things safe are things like OS weapons that are in collections of people who don't dupe.

I find this a little hard to believe. Call me skeptical. Anyone actually have a screenshot?
And prices drops are normal during birthday celebrations, guys. Everyones trying to buy consumables and minis (and for that matter, everyone's trying to sell minis), so the market's being flooded with all the ecto that normally gets saved and stashed away.
Not saying that it's impossible dupes are happening and that's the cause, just that I find it HIGHLY... EXTREMELY unlikely.
Until we actually have some proof, I'm unconvinced.

I can remember one guildie a few years ago who blew over 500k just on 9 rings and he was selling all his materials etc.
As for minis - i have several accounts and ive probably near 100 pets from that - that doesnt mean im duping.Ecto prices dropped because of same reason - remember there are players with stacks of ectos from power trading etc.
Im sure if ppl were duping then the items they would dupe the easiest thing to sell and it probably wouldnt event ring the anet alarm bells - stacks of the event drops but thats my theory .

This happens all the time when the boardwalk has been going and players are selling assests to raise the cash to afk 9 rings.

People need to look at the big picture. According to mines and my friends accounts, there is no duping going on. But according to the traders something is happening. I recently grabbed a few hundred saps and rubies to finish up my mats storage. They went up to 12 or 13k during the event and now you can buy at 8k each? For those mats to drop this much a crapload must have been sold the to dealer. They couldn't find a way to convert enough into ectos and arms even with inflated offers.
Too bad they didnt do diamonds too lol. Thats the last mat I need.
