Update - Thursday, February 9, 2012 (Winds of Change Part 3)
5 pages • Page 3
Finished the third chapter a little while ago. Overall, this chapter was pretty fun to play with some nice and funny dialogue in between. Don't really care for the the look of the Imperial Weapons, but that's just my personal taste. Trying to figure out what the heck I'm gonna' do with all these requisitions.
The only thing I can say I'm disappointed about is that...
Other than that, WoC was fun and I thank John Stumme and the rest of the Anet team for putting it all together for free!

New offhand dagger, in the place of a shield, will have to see how it works in combat.

The story was nice and I like the new items, I hear stories of hidden stuff too
HoM compatability for the last 2 new heroes is still needed though and same counts for the new weapons, if they can't go in, I won't get them tbh.
And sadly no tengu were remembered in my hall
But, the update is still fresh I'll just lurk in the fora and wiki to see what it has to offer more than shiny stuff.
small story spoiler below

Fun fact: that weapon is the same one that the guard gets stabbed through the chest with. At one point in time, we were considering adding it as a sword (I wanted to call it "Guardsbane") but we ultimately decided that was taking things a little too far. XD

It is madness I tell you, madness.

^Was expecting a quick nerf to the spear, or else it would have been broken.
I've been enjoying part 3; the two quests I've done so far are fun and distinct from each other, and I like how there are so many rewards. I'm expecting great fun from this, and it already seems an improvement over part 2, which I liked a lot as well.

1. Help a ranger guardsman to take on MoP waves from 2 sides.
2. Solo quest, hear the plan of Am Fah And Jade Brotherhood then run away.
3. Defend Kaineng Center from the bandits and kill the 2 factions' leaders.
4. Help peasants from the attack of the remaining bandits.
5. Escort people from MoP.
6. Fight the Tengu waves.
7. The Final confrontation.
Did I miss anything?

Spear got nerfed -.- dropped the 30hp....
Okay, all my respect for WoC 3 has been lost. I liked the spear, the quests were decent, but the disappointment outweighs the niceness -.- |

While I like the little twists like a dagger that works like a shield, it doesn't change the fact there's practically no innovation when it comes to items - it's more of the same, again and again and again.
It's such a great shame that in over 5 years, including a large expansion (EotN) there have been almost no new weapons added that I'd really want to get (only more of the same with different, not really "better" looks) and that the biggest addition to the game item-wise that made me enjoy it for a moment almost like it was 2005 again was something unintended (the Mausoleum 2010 incident). Shame that most of the coolest "virtual treasures" to hunt for are things of the past coming from 2005-2006 content, and many not dropping anymore at all. I don't believe it's impossible to innovate without making things that would be strictly better than what's currently the best.
At least the gameplay of the new quests is pretty enjoyable, but I don't see myself doing it more than once.
