Just remembered, when you fight the doppelgänger they often come equipped with a tormented spear(and did so I think before they were a playable item)
|
EDIT: According to wiki, it was an eternal bow

realizing that in order to delete something from trade window you do not need to restart the trade but can double click on the item you want to remove... meta changing moment for me

There as a thread a couple years ago full of useful little known GW tips....

Was it one of those linked in the Q/A sticky thread lists? If not, do you still have the link to post here? It seems appropriate for this thread, right? (Sorry if not! I'm a Riverside noob.) I enjoy reading things like that. You never know what new tidbit you might learn.

Some of the info is out of date (obviously) and it has been resurrected a time or two without the original post being updated.

I think the doppleganger had like, a storm bow before they changed it
EDIT: According to wiki, it was an eternal bow http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Doppleganger |
Been a while since I did the dopplegager so I always assumed this inconsistancy was still there. Seems they fixed it.
Add this to the list of little things you never noticed

P.s nice thread btw

Thanks for the link Blade! I think I remember seeing that sometime in the past, but it'll be interesting to read it with fresh eyes for sure.
And I second Shanaeri's compliment above. Good idea for a thread, thanks! (The title on the main page got me to click Riverside for the first time in ages.)

This may not be so interesting as some of the previous posts, but I've been pleasantly surprised when I found out that you get 50 tournament reward points ( can be traded for 10 Zaishen keys ) when you *first* talk to High Priest Zhang in Temple of Balthazar. I think it was a 2010 update, so all of those who didn't have a chat with the kind man, i gladly recommend.

The things I enjoyed finding out were hotkeys that just made things SOO much easier.
Shift click and drag to split stacks, for years I'd been trading things between accounts to split them up, NO MORE!
C to target closest enemy,
V to target closest ally.
Also, its possible to make money by using artisans to craft rare materials and sell them back to the trader (even buying the common materials at trader price). When I found out this was possible I thought there had been some kind of mistake, but sure enough I made 5g/Elonian Leather I crafted. Not worth the time an effort in anyway but was interesting that it actually worked.
Hope these are helpful.

Is that something everybody knows about already? I've yet to study the updates since last Winter/Spring closely, so maybe I simply missed it.
Another :O for me was realizing identifying white loot drops raised the price the merchant would pay for them! If anyone is curious, I recall there was a good bit of discussion about different players' findings and opinions on precisely when it made sense to risk id'ing an item for the likelihood of the merch price increasing beyond the cost of ID kit use. There should be helpful links in that "how to make money" sticky Snograt compiled for the Q/A section.
My most recent :O, with my thanks to End for teaching me how just the other day ...
You do not have to use a skill template to simply send a copyable url text string via GW chat! You can enter
[http://www.guildwarsguru.com/;xx]in chat and it works like the clunkier way I always did it by starting from cntl-clicking my skill bar, pasting url there, and sending to chat.
So you type a [ then paste the url you want to send then type a ; then type xx] and hit enter.

People also don't realize what they should be using salvage kits on. I'm only now getting a better feel for what salvages into what. (Materials like granite for example, are valuable). Probably worth a sticky thread in its own right. I also never realized that you want to be using a regular salvage kit almost all of the time (I was just using the experts kit). Something like a Gold Conch with a Measure for Measure inscription added to it can easily salvage into 150+ glittering dust.
