Death Leveling a Rainbow Phoenix

So I just spent 5 hours death leveling a rainbow phoenix using Eternal Aura in the menagerie as a W/D. And it's level 20. And an enemy. But now what?

People are telling me you have to be /R to charm it right there and then, but if that's so, how are other professions supposed to death level and charm the phoenix? Cuz I don't wanna leave and come back to it being level 5 again.

You have to be /R to charm a pet if your primary profession is not ranger. There is no other way.

Use a pair of resmers with maxed out fast casting. Sac yourself down wearing 55 gear then have your resmers use skills that automatically result in your death at that low of an hp level, Restore Life or Resurrect should work. Take one copy of Resurrection Chant along and disable it for micro later (which does allow you to res at 1hp) when finished. This method takes less than 30 minutes to finish one pet. For your own skills, as above, go /R and take charm.

Edit: Bah I see the problem here...this method works for pets which can be charmed by heroes, this one cannot. In this case I'd just recommend paying the coins/faction rather than suffering through it the long way.

Thanks guys. I just went ahead and spent 20k to level it to 20. Then to my delight, I figured out that I can't read and I have to get a phoenix from divine path, not a rainbow phoenix for my hom.

Ouch! 5 hours, take a couple of mesmers to res you and it should take 20 min to level to 20. O.o I forgot can you take heros to Menagerie? and can you get a Rainbow in your menagerie?

peoples, you can not DL a rainbow pheonix with heros or anyone else in your part. you must solo it as a R/D or D/R using Eternal Aura. and yes, it will always take a long time doing it this way. its best to just pay to have it lvl'ed.

R/D or D/R with charm animal and eternal aura is a big waste of time however there is an alternative way to gain massive easy XP.

Remains Of Salahjah. if u can get into that challenge you can kill enemies in HM and your in a wurm, however your pet will appear to die but still gain xp even off compass...just a big pacman game. more XP over time other than sitting still in the menagerie.

also u cant take heroes in the menagerie AND have the rainbow phoenix spawn, use your wiki sources.

if you don't have r/d or d/r but have a free character slot you could make a pvp-only one, dl it, charm it, put it into the menagerie at lvl 20 and pick it up with a pve-only char.

My God ... took me a couple VQ to lvl my rainbow phoenix from 5 to 20, all the trouble to DL it isn't worth.
Also, rainbow phoenix doesn't count to HoM, imperial phoenix is the one that count, the one found after you defeat Shiro in Factions.
