I usually try to do the Zaishen Vanquishes with PUGs but recently, its starting to get a bit annoying. It seems now there is always one or two people in the group that insist on working on their cartography title while vanquishing. They're running off to where no monsters are to map or they're slowly following behind us hugging walls. I've asked some of them to please map when the vanquish was over and they usually just ignore me but yesterday, someone told me that the group is expected to allow people to do mapping while vanquishing. Really? Since when is it expected for people to waste their time while someone else works on titles?
Zaishen Vanquish and Cartography?

Even in our guild vanqs anyone who wants to map waits until the end of the vanq and then does it when those who don't need to map has left if they want to. It is extremely discourteous to map during a vanq, unless all have agreed it upfront.
Of course you see bad behaviour on GW every day - your only recourse is to put the names of those who behave badly on your ignore list and make sure you do not go in a group with them again.

Considering that the Wiki explicitly tells players that combining Vanquishing with mapping is a good idea, it's not really surprising that players are doing exactly that - their primary source of information is indicating that's how it's done.
You could always create your own PuG and specifically state in your ad: "LFG ZV - NO MAPPING"
That way you'd attract people who feel the same and you won't have any cause to complain about people doing exactly what the (closest thing to an) instruction manual (that GW has) says to do.

I was going to say have a heart, but I then remembered what yesterday's ZVq was and I understand. Arborstone is notoriously difficult to cartograph and shouldn't be one where PuG'rs try to complete during a VQ.
I think a good rule for people is don't plan on VQ'ing to cartograph. Happy accidents are fine and you are welcome to run along the edges (a speed boost, from cons or otherwise would be good etiquette here); however most PuGs don't have the time for someone to walk back and forth along a cliff wall, trying to uncover that last little part of gray.
If you honestly need to cartograph during your VQ, do it with heroes or understanding guildies, or at least people who need to do the same.
I know there is no way I intend to make others suffer with me when I go to do the Drok's corridor (Snake Dance, Dreadnaught's, and Lornar's pass)

Common Courtesy is something that isn't very common anymore. There is no reason that someone who is working on their Cartography title can't wait until the vanquish is completed to go back to uncover spots that weren't hit in the course of the VQ.
The only difference between making the VQ last 5-10 minutes longer by mapping while vanquishing and waiting until the end and spending 5-10 minutes after the VQ is complete is this: When you wait, you're not holding other people up. (And, if you wait, you can pick up junk others have left behind)

carto I do or did separately since I dont believe that people should have to wait while I run over there to say HI to that wall or tree---
though I also vanquish alone as well ---mostly due to getting interrupted while I play (again I dont think others should have to wait while I answer the door, phone, pull the stuff out of the dryer etc).
I guess I play alone too much and enjoy being able to do what I want without bothering others. (and most areas arent too hard to vanquish with 7h now).

Some people, like me, do the ZV for the title, no for the crappy rewards. So if I can get 2 titles instead of one while doing it, then that's what I'll do.

Because it takes virtually the same amount of time to map while vanquishing as it does to vanquish then map.

a) Do it with Heroes and Henchmen
or
b) Do it with Guildmates or a Party that has agreed beforehand to wait for you.
or
c) run around and do the carto after the vanquish is complete. Since all the foes will be dead, it may even take less time over all. If you don't have the H&H to do it yourself or you don't have Guildies to do it with, and, therefore you need/want to use a PUG, you should respect the fact that others in the group don't share your title needs.
It's just good manners.

I have to disagree, I VQ and carto most zones with over 300 enemies in 50mins or less, my highest time was 57mins for Perdition Rock, I forgot about Maxine patrol route...I don't pug, 7 heroes are faster than building a pug team, or waiting for my slow ass guildies.....
