Class availability in earlier campaigns

There's something I don't understand about class selection in Prophecies. I started my first character a few days ago and I'm working my way to the Legendary Defender title. In between grinding runs I've been seeing a lot of players in pre-Searing Ascalon hanging around, and I think I'm seeing classes that I'm not able to select in this campaign? Like Dervish and such?

Maybe I'm mistaken because I haven't seen all the armors and clothes yet, but just be sure, is it possible to start the game as a Ritualist/Dervish/etc.?

No it isn't possible. You can only select the 6 primary professions in Prophecies. What you may see is people in costumes as these are now available in Pre Searing after the addition of a Costume NPC. If you click on the character and check their profession they'll be one of the 6 professions.

Probably the people you saw had 6th year everlasting tonics. There are some which give you the aspect of a derv or a sin ( like EL. Melonni or Miku )

Unless somebody has been in Pre for over 6 years that is impossible. Pretty unlikely.

Actually thats not so far fetched. LOTS of perma pre's exist.
