With dialogue from the commando implying that the A.R.E.N.A squad play some kind of role in the storyline of GW2, what exactly do you think theyre going to do?

Personally, I think they will act like a Dhuum character now, with a special animation like reppeling down from the roof and smuggling a character away into their chopper when someone is about to be banned, similar to the 'reaping' animation Dhuum does now.

That idea is actually pretty amazing, but I feel like most players will have no idea why a helicopter is present in the gw2 world. They probably wouldn't grasp the joke. At least dhuum has some connection with the gw lore.

I doubt any real connection will play out in gw2. You have to realize this is a joke. Anet might have been making fun of the criticism that gw2 has gotten too "technological" with the introduction of guns and whatnot, so they decided to take it a few steps further.

It would be pretty funny if an arena squad were to brutally beat a character for a few minutes just before they're perma banned.

I'm deinstalling both GW and GW2 if none of the A.R.E.N.A. squad dudes don't yell "GET TO DA CHOPPA!"

It'd be awesome to have A.R.E.N.A. come and ban botters and gold sellers in GW2.

I'd buy the game only for that reason

I hope they are given tazer guns, so the come out of the helicopter, shoot the banned character with a tazer and then take him into the helicopter

why on earth does anyone want choppers in gw or gw2? as an aprils fool... sure fine...
as something that actually stays or returns alot... no thanks.
It just doesn't fit the game imo.

I Think the A.R.E.N.A. is reference to F.E.A.R.

I think its a reference to the short story "Arena" in which 1 man and 1 alien are pitted against each other in combat that will determine which race survives.
Sure, its 2 vs. 1, but that can be looked over for story telling purposes of the quest. But think about it, the Charr want to kill Sarah to prevent Gwen from being born, thus making sure future Charr aren't killed. You want to destroy the golem to make sure Gwen is born and kills the Charr to make sure future humans aren't killed. It kind of works.

I'd rather see some kind of giant dragon claw popping out from the earth, grabbing them and pulling them down.

Or just Dhuum again.

No. A.R.E.N.A. will be permitted into my GW2 no more than 24 hours per year. And those hours must be consecutive.

All I know is that the Commando videos, the helicopter, the Twitter feed (@Corporal_Bane), and everything else all put together make this event the funniest thing I've seen in this game ever.

And with time travel, everything is in flux, so it would be awesome to see the Commandos make a return in GW2 during April Fool's or other isolated incidents (though it seems pretty obvious they won't be there permanently)

I love the idea in the first post. I can't wait to see the image on the GW2 website change from a Commando to a Mesmer. April Fools is about tricks and deceit right?

either zhaitan swoops down and eats them/breathes fire on their face or dhuum again

just got the thread, hadn't watched the vids on gw2.com yet, loved the air support "that's.... a big chicken" LOL GG.

I wouldn't mind seing a time portal open up and some A.R.E.N.A. soldiers come pouring through it to grab a botter/cheater etc. and pull them through the warp gate and have it close for a perma ban in GW2. I think that would be a great deterrent for cheaters. We need more very visual anti-cheating reminders in place from the start of the game.

GW1 needed Dhuum back at launch. I think it would have went a long way to stop people from cheating. Last year got REALLY bad as far as botters were concerned.

Or it's just a reference to, you know, Arena Net? lol

I did really enjoy the April Fool's joke and I would enjoy a modern flavored version of the game. However ARENA and commandos just don't belong in GW lore other than as a 1-shot joke.
