What is the purpose of this thread?
Sometimes I, and probably other artists in here with me, feel like doodling around, trying out something new or practicing some color or anatomy. And in some cases this involves a character, but we don't really have one particular at hand. So with this thread we can quickly look up which characters are around and find some inspiration. And for those who put their characters up the list, this means free art! I doubt anyone would disagree with me it is a nice suprise if you happen to get art you didn't expect. Suprises are fun, aren't they?
Other then that, if you desire to request a commission, you can easily link back to this thread. This way you don't have to browse through old threads to find your character info, or need to gather all the info together again, you can all find it in this single central thread!

This thread is made for everyone. Everyone who haves a character, wether it is one from Guild Wars or not, and would be glad to receive an artwork based on it.
The info part.
I, and I think I speak on behalf on many other artists around here, like the more info the better. Be complete, have a story to the character, and maybe tips of poses, scenes or attributes. So try to be as complete as you can. Underneath, a small example list you could use, but ofcourse feel free to use your own approach.

My mother was an Necromancer High Priest of a small cult, which name I cannot say. My father on the other hand was a Priest.. He was an Healer.. I realise that is an odd combination and everyone condemned my father for falling in love with my mother.
When I was little I always spent my times in the Graveyard, Death fascinated me. I remember the first time I raised my first minion, my cat had died and I did not want to lose it..
I knew my mother was able to exploit corpses and make them work for her. This of course my Dad didn’t like. “Let the dead be dead” . So I looked in one of her books and quickly found the spell that would make a minion. I went back to the place where I had buried him and started chanting the spell. I had no idea what I was doing but at that moment it felt all natural. And I succeeded! My first minion, my first Necromancy act. The only downside was that the following day my father had it killed. But I knew what I was destined to do. What I was destined to become…
I was to become a great Necromancer, one that would control an army of minions…

Quite arrogant,always battle ready, and a huge flirt (with both danger and men). Hand picked by Melandru to be guardian of the Shiverpeaks.
Eye color: Very light blue-completely white glow while casting(no pupil or iris)
Characteristics: Scar on her right shoulder that starts close to the collar bone and goes about 3" down toward her chest, not stick thin-Frost is very curvy- but not "fat". big eyes, full lips, Very pale skin-bit of a bluish hue to it.

It is a difficult thing to say who "deserves" or "appreciates" more art.
I do not think this will change but I hope that newer members of Nolani take the time to choose a character they want to draw, not a person they want to please.

Here are my two most loved characters.
Character: Glint Stormrage
Profession: Ranger (Guild Wars)
Skill Build:
Weapons: Scythe, Dagger, Bow, Spirits
Biography: Glint is a Ranger of few words, tormented with things she shouldn't know and thoughts she shouldn't think. She seeks her solace in the wild forest, accompanied by the large black raven named Elegy who gave her a reason to live.
Eye color: Leafy green.
Hair color: Dark chocolate brown.
Hairstyle: Either gathered into two tails (in-game hairstyle) or loose.
Characteristics: Glint is Canthan-born, and her physical features reflect this. Her face is oval shaped and fairly long for a Canthan. She is petite (5'2") and flat-chested. She is not very strong but her back, arm and neck muscles are well developed from training with a bow. She has no distinguishing scars or piercings.
Extra preferences: Glint is what I consider an "urban archer." While she may have points in Wilderness Survival, she does not feel particularly "in tune" with nature. She appreciates the outdoors and respects Melandru, but her faith is with Kormir.

Biography:
There may be not a soul in this world as conflicted as the woman known as Mina. It was as if the gods had destined her for greatness, yet in several different directions. String of tragedies seem to always accompany her path but this headstrong mesmer will never let anything bring her down.
Her mysterious and elusive personality also fit the nickname some people may have called her- Raven.
Characteristics:
Long, raven-haired beauty whose eyes as green as a tranquil forest and lips so red as if drenched in blood. Her skin fair and porcelain-like. Her body type is slim yet curvy in all the right places. But despite her physical beauty, Mina relies more on her wits to take down an opponent and gets annoyed at the notion that she was considered a skilled fighter because of her good looks.

A lone wolf. Ran's journey is a story of its own. His enemies are great and his friends are few. But in the end he could care less.
Unknown to many, he was the son of a former Elite Ranger who worked for the Royal Ascalon Army. His father died of mysterious circumstances and his father's memory was long forgotten. However, as time went by, this origin was merely but a shadow of Ran's true persona.

Ran's features look quite refined for a common ranger but still with a hint of ruggedness. His deep, icy blue eyes are focused and penetrating. His long black hair is loosely tied together as it trails down his back. He is tall while his physique is lean and muscular
I've got two characters, one GW and one not. I'll apologize now for the length of the backstories, especially Rianna's - I spend far too much time on character backgrounds.
Guild Wars character -- Farai Savitri
Character name: Farai
Profession: Dervish
Biography:
The younger child of two Sunspears, like her older half-sister Marjani she was trained as a Sunspear, chosing the scythe over the spear, also learning a smattering of magic to help. She and her sister were more or less polar opposites, Marjani being something of a joker, but Farai has always been a very serious person who, while not lacking a sense of humor, simply doesn't think that she has the time to waste on frivolities (other than dancing, which she has always loved).
Already a rising star within the Sunspears when the war with Kourna broke out, she quickly volunteered her scythe to help, being one of the few to manage to cross the Desolation and eventually enter the Realm of Torment. If one were to ask her afterwards, she would simply say that it had to be done, and that her faith in the gods, particularly Lyssa, kept her going through the horrors there.
Farai has also traveled to Tyria and Cantha, allying with the Shining Blade against the White Mantle, and serving to help place Salma back on the throne in Lion's Arch. In Cantha, while respecting both vassal nations, she felt that the more serious and devout Kurzicks she felt more of a kinship with. A chance trip to the north led her into the conflict with the Destroyers, as well as a meeting with the Asura. Ever since spending time in Rata Sum she's had to wear a pair of spectacles, something she's mildly displeased with; she blames the Asuran magic for ruining her eyesight.
Farai is a devout follower of Lyssa, and when she's not helping where a friend asks, she now dwells in Vabbi, which she fell in love with when visiting there previously. She's settled there, though she still visits her home on Istan quite frequently, acting as something of a warrior priestess, and helps trains some of the younger children in Vabbi who want to learn to fight and defend themselves and their home, but don't want to travel to Istan to become a Sunspear or to join the Vabbian guards. And as ever, if her help is needed, she will stubbornly wade into the fray, not heeding the danger to her own life.
Eye color: Light gray-purple
Characteristics: Farai is very short and petite, standing at about 4'11" (150cm), and rather slender, as she is very active. Her short stature leads people to underestimate her, and she has the strength to accurately and dangerously (to others) wield a scythe that is taller than she is. Her skin is a medium dusky-brown, and her hair is the same light gray-purple that her eyes are.

Non-GW Character -- Rianna Xi (Star Wars, fallen Jedi)
Character name: Rianna
Biography:
The youngest child of two miners on Cloud City, Rianna was discovered to be Force sensitive as an infant, and despite her parents' initial dislike of it, she was brought to the Temple shortly after turning two. There was nothing remarkable about Rianna when she began her training, other than intense shyness amongst others and an inability to focus on her lessons; she was never able to get along with others well and while she was far from stupid, she had a difficult time with her studies. It was only when she began to practice lightsaber combat that she was happy, as she learned quickly that she was quite talented at it. At the age of twelve, Rianna was assigned as the Padawan to a young Knight, Myraline Kiros. They were opposites in almost every way, but the Council hoped that Myraline would be able to have a calming and stabilizing influence on Rianna, as well as encourage her to practice something other than combat. This did not work out as intended, however; while Rianna had been close to her Master initially, as she grew older she became more and more independent and uninterested in anything other than duelling. The only interesting event in her time as a Padawan was a mission when she was 16 to Beseedra. While they were eventually successful, she had been forced to fight Myraline and lost. This did cause them to become closer for a time, but it also had the effect of causing Rianna to become very nervous about things.
When she was 19, Rianna underwent the Jedi Trials to become a Knight. She did not really think she was ready to do so, but by this time she and Myraline did not get along at all any longer and Myraline said that she would not be able to teach her Padawan anything more. Rianna was successfully promoted to Jedi Knight, though at the time she did not know that she nearly did not pass the Trials and there had been doubts over whether she should be promoted or not; even Myraline was unsure if Rianna should have been promoted. She had a short but relatively quiet career as a Jedi, attaining some renown for her skills with a lightsaber. Everything changed two years later, though, when she had been on a solo mission to Reecee, where she encountered Nume Rand, a former Jedi Master that fell to the Dark Side. He told her where he was going next - Ord Coridari - and after returning to Coruscant, Rianna was sent there with a Jedi Master, Vera-Kin, to try and stop Rand. The mission itself did not go well; when they finally caught up to Rand, they were forced to duel him and both lost rather badly, Rianna winding up being stabbed straight through. Rand shared his plan, which was to use an ancient Sith weapon to force the volcanos on Coruscant to erupt. Rianna attempted to stop him by shooting at the weapon with a stolen blaster, but instead of destroying it, this simply damaged it and caused it to go off. They managed to escape, but this caused a massive volcano to erupt, killing thousands of people on Ord Coridari.
When they returned to Coruscant, the Council eventually decided that it'd be best to put Rianna on an indefinite leave, and she would have to undergo counselling. Not surprisingly, she hated this idea and if anything felt it was making her even worse than she had been. She escaped and ran away from the Temple the first chance she got, and after spending some time on her own, she wound up on Bespin, determined to track down her family and find out why they had given her to the Jedi. She had been followed, though, and stopped before she could do this. Rianna gave into her anger and fought and killed both Myraline and Ciira Treen, Myraline's current Padawan, but she finally lost to the third Jedi that had come after her. She had barely managed to escape with her life, though her injuries were quite severe. When she awoke some time later, she discovered that she had been found by Rand, much to her dismay. She both despised and feared him, but had no choice but to deal with him for the time being. Things got slightly better when they banded with the remains of Kuylen's group of Dark Siders; they eventually established their own base where it was safe for them, Rand was overthrown as leader of the group, and Rianna 'befriended' - or at least was generally able to tolerate the presence of - Galder and Dak, who both shared her talents with and love of fighting.
She is generally very soft-spoken - it is extremely rare that she raises her voice or shouts - and speaks with a proper Coruscanti accent, thanks to growing up amongst the Jedi. Her fighting style leans towards very quick, graceful, and precise moves. She is an exceptionally angry person, but is also prone to worrying about things; she refuses to admit to anyone else - and even to herself most of the time - that much of her anger and hatred is simply a cover for fear, not wanting to give away anything that could be construed as weakness. She is beginning to realize that her talent for violence is simply not enough, and while she has no interest in leading anything, she wants to be seen as being useful for something other than killing and being more than just a tool. To that end, she has secretly picked up her old studies she always ignored before, and has been working to better her control with the Force on her own.

Character name: Illharess D Vhid
Profession: Necromancer
Biography: Distant, obsessive (particularly with beauty), lack of sympathy/empathy. She grew up in Ascalon, loving how incredibly beautiful it was. She lived a relatively normal life as a Necromancer recruit, but when the Searing destroyed her homeland, it destroyed her as well. She's spent most of her life since traveling the world in search of a place equally beautiful, while trying to improve her own appearance. By allowing her obsession to consume her, she no longer has total control over the dark magic of Necromancy. With each passing day, she loses a bit more of herself.

Extra preferences: Weapons of choice are Platinum Wand and Celestial Compass. She's a rather serious character, so she doesn't smile often. Pet is a hyena named either Mr. Jack or Mr. Samsa - she forgets which, but he responds to both.

Profession: Mesmer
Biography: Loves to travel, haughty, elegant, feels personally indebted to the Asura, favors Illusion magic. Trained as a child to be a Mesmer, focusing in Illusion. Biography is embarrassingly unrefined, sorry.
Eye color: Deep brown.
Characteristics: Same as in screenshots - I'd prefer if she had her hair in the second screenshot with the top hat instead of the default top hat hair.

Extra preferences: Weapons of choice are Frog Scepter and Rose Focus. Rose Focus is her favorite. When backgrounds are involved, something circus-y would be amazing.
Character name: The Sacred Silence
Profession: Ritualist
Biography: She is focused primarily on meditation, communion with the gods, self-improvement, but still a bit sentimental and superstitious. She has great respect for every summoned spirit, sort of like how Native Americans give thanks to the deer for the food and leather. She's one to keep to herself a bit more, and she's more comfortable with her spirits than most people.
Eye Color: Brown, but it's rare that she removes her headwrap.
Characteristics: Same as in screenshots, though I'd prefer the transition between the face tattoos to un-tattooed neck to be a bit smoother.

The story
The following event plays around the year 2075:
The Yakuza has been increasing in large numbers over the last few years.
Japanese Government laws have made them unwelcome in their country, resulting in a very aggressive time.
Police actions are failing and the Yakuza are becoming more and more violent.
So violent that they have taken an entire city under their control.
Scientists and researches came up with the idea of bringing the stealth of a Ninja and the Way of the Samurai back, but with modern tools.
It took a few years for researchers and professional masters of Ninjutsu and masters of the blade to develop tools together to make them a powerful move into setting the city free.
But they did it.
Now they have deployed themselves in the city, which is about to change.
One of the Ninja's is Kimi. Kimi is 25 years old, and has been training Ninjutsu when she was 7 years old.
Suit design: In order for a ninja to remain flexible yet being able to become ''invisible'' the body is fully covered by black leather. The boots are specially designed for silent walking, yet being able to have a strong grip for example on walls. Since martial arts contains alot of arm tactics, including blocking, special gloves (that cover up the hand and the lower arm) have been added with a harder shell to prevent any knife from cutting through or to greatly decrease the force when being hit by example a baseball bat. This material has also been added on the chest, this part fills up the chest area like a sportsbra in order to remain flexible. A boxershort's like design has been added with 2 pistol pockets on it's side. A belt with Shuriken can be connected to it to keep it steady. Lose the belt and you can take actions that require as minum space as possible. 2 blade pockets can be carried on the back and daggers can be attached on the upper arm.

You will probably notice that I still haven't got to grips with taking good screenies and putting them up here, these took me hours!
Aeronwen , well along the way she got GWAMM and 50/50 but she is by no means a death machine, more a party animal who gets lucky occasionally. Aero spends most of her time in the bar, but she will be with you if you need help, and somehow her fairly incompetent help has endeared her to people along the way and she has had simply awesome gifts and help from friends.

This is Penfro, she has been hanging around in pre for many years. Originally she would greet new players, answer their questions, give them a bit of gold and, if they wanted, accompany them on a few quests. For the last year or so she has been opening the gate for free for prospective LDoA’s.
She has been used to walking freely through pre, nothing can hurt her and she can kill what she likes. Lately things have become a bit more challenging as some higher level foes have appeared. This has slightly troubled her serenity, but she has not died yet and is learning to cope with them.

Meet Invictus, she is the most competent of the family. She got Survivor the hard way, just killing her way through Tyria, Cantha and Elona. It's just a job for her, if the money is right she will go kill you - nothing personal ^^
