So, I've been away from Guild Wars for many many many months. I've probably accumulated a total of 30 minutes of online time in the last 6+ months, so I'm a bit out of the loop with what's been going on. Anyways... Here are my questions:

•If you delete a mercenary hero after creating then, will that slot be permanently gone, forcing you to having to rebuy that 1 slot in the future if you ever wish to use it again? Or will that slot still be there until you choose to refill it again?

•Are the slots character-based? As in, if you buy an 8-pack (example) per character? Or could I buy an 8-pack, clone 8 character, and use those 8 characters across my entire account freely?

•And last question: Would buying mercenary heroes basically allow me to have, say, 7 monk heroes in my party?

Thanks!

No, the slot remains empty untill you go the Merc Registrar and fill it with another character.

The slots are account-based. Once you buy it and fill it with your characters, all of your other characters can use them as heroes.

Yes. You may create for example a PvP only monk, add him/her as your hero, delete the character and create another, add again, etc.

I would prefer 7 pink Barrage Rangers with flamingos,
and you stand back spamming Great Dwarf Weapon on the rangers for knock down fun.

In theory, yes. In practice:
A) you need 7 slots, costing money
B) you need to level up 7 necromancer characters (you can't duplicate yourself, although possibly renaming could work)
C) there are better ways to steamroll PvE without 7x discord

Basically, you buy the mercenary hero slots. The slots remain whether or not there's a Hero filling them. Even if you delete the character, the slot, and the Merc based on that character, will remain. You can also "delete" the Merc from the slot, leaving the slot empty.

Btw, I recently made a Merc based on a Ranger. I had the Ranger set to not display the mask (headpiece) but the merc ended up showing the mask anyway. So, I deleted the Merc, removed the Ranger's mask and remade the Merc. The resulting merc doesn't show any mask, but has a generic headpiece in the proper armor slot.

The Mercs become usable by all your characters, except that a character cannot use a Merc based upon themselves. For example, if you make Mercs from ToonA, ToonB, & ToonC - ToonA could use MercToonB and MercToonC, but not MercToonA. ToonD could use all 3.

oh, oh, oh. I'm totally making a naked party of mercs! Thanks for this idea!

If you buy your characters to play as merc do they get drops? Maybe the 40 + bucks would be more worth it

I assume not, since the Mercenary Heroes are nothing more than NPCs that take the looks of your character(s).

Mercenary heroes are, essentially, regular heroes that look like one of your characters. There's nothing else changed from a mechanics standpoint as far as I know. If a regular hero can't do it, these guys won't do it, either.

They won't do it, but they'll look better not doing it.
