So having finally been brought up to speed by listening to the Juhn Stumme interview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cO5xAGxfCKU&hd=1, I fnd the mercenary heroes an interesting update. We can now make any composition of heroes given the willingness to invest time to get a character to level 20 and pay for him/her to become a hero.
The number of team hero builds has the potential to increase exponentially. What does everyone think about this?

To be honest, I didn't really see the potential of this until I realized that this negates the number of heroes in any given profession. Add 4 necros, yes this a complete waste of character slots, and a 7 man discord team is ready to fly through things. It could be interesting, but I probably won't pay for it.

I guess I will have a better opinion once it's been implemented. However, does this mean I have to level up a character, gear them, and pay real life money just to get additional heroes of a certain class? If so, not impressed.

I think you are missing the 'cool factor'. The fact that we could use our own characters as heroes is pure awesome. I would definitely use the in-game store for this.
Yup the same for me, i have some pretty nice looking characters to replace some of the more ugly heroes, my ele would easily replace Zhed or vekk, sousuke looks decent once you put some primeval armor on him, but the other 2 are pretty bad.

So all you need is one character slot and 60 seconds of effort, in theory.
It's not like getting to level 20 takes more than a couple of hours (unless you start in prophecies I guess).

The real potential here is 6 necros, Avatar of dwayna Dervish to heal the minions o.O.
When we heard of 7 Hero update we didn't know that they would do the mercenary hero update that would let there be more multiples-of-one-profession abuse.
Oh dont worry, i can make decent builds for heroes without the need of pve skills, thing is that unlike a lot of people i have patience and i dont need to be killing mega fast with gimmick pve skills to enjoy myself.
Yeah, this is a fantastic idea and I love it, as people have said though, the problem with that is the 7 necro or the whatever classes, I have no need for that but it could become a problem. It wont affect me but it is kinda unfair for that to happen.
I am very excited for that though, if its a fair price.
Itd b cool if my rit replaced Xandra, although I know that wont happen, or you can only have a max of 3 profs per party for the heroes

the only difference between "merc" hero and the normal heroes would be pixels. oh and the fact that it can be of the proffession you want since you will be leveling it. i guess to some this is important, as for me, i don't care for the idea of paying for "better" pixels.

Hmm.
If the merc heroes took the place of one of your regular heroes or there was still the cap on how many heroes of each profession you may have then I would support the idea.
But if this allows people who pay more money to take more Necs, Rits or whatever than those who don't, then I'm against it. It doesn't even matter if a popular meta build that uses more of a certain profession than what would traditionally be allowed comes up or not.

I'd only pay for it if we can use PVE skills on them AND we get the loot that drops for them.

But you can still fill your 7 hero party for free at least.
Yeah I guess that's my problem with this idea. I don't really care much what my heroes look like, especially because only myself and maybe a couple friends would ever see them. I'm more interested in the actual amount of X class I can have.

. Not great for HM, but fun
