Hi Folks

seems the plague of botters have returned, not learning the mistakes of others. People playig in the ATs are talking about the top performing guilds using bots and macros, and some of the lesser guilds just so they can reap undeserved rewards. In fact we see them obviously as they drop present and side step a KD, super fast pick ups. We know of the bots that plagued GvG and HA, they are back in Snowball ATs, more worrying is the use of macros that automatically pickup presents.

Will we see abuses likes this in Guild Wars 2? Will this continue in the next wintersday festival? Saddening that honest players are again being penalised.

Whilst there has been warnings of the use of macros, is there any official word on the use of them?

Discuss.......

Judging from general vent chatter from playing sbATs this year, there's people using either bots or macros in just about every guild that plays them actively.

Does Anet care? Apparently not.

I think many of the staff are off work for the holidays at Anet HQ/NcSoft which is not helping.

Also, I don't think they read or investigate 'botting' reports via the game client so I recommend sending support tickets.

Well , i know some guilds however that got good because they play those event games 24/7 , thus i doubt guilds such as MoO or idqd use bots .I also realized the high level of ineptitude of some people i played with ...Anyway i got some doubts concerning some others who kinda never play and suddenly get 6/0 ( especially HA guilds ). Could you please tell us which guilds you are suspecting botting ?

I agree that it's pretty boring to see same guilds playing every single AT and being 1st 2nd and 3rd, especially when you know the reward. But well , if you're mad at that , they will just say " then go farm snowball dominance you get same reward..."... They probably do not care of anything left , since they're still busy doing dervish update from 1 year ago

Hey Missing HB

Yes some of the guilds have amazing players for sure, they have played SB Ats last 3 years and have good team work. The thing is you can see certain aspects of what people say the bots and macros do, even if you did not know what they do.

I have no problem getting beat, its PvP, it is competitive play, but when you see lots of guilds abusing this and freely sending macros to other guilds then it takes the fun out of playing. I am not farming for rewards, I am trying to teach new players to PvP how to play, and play with friends as an activity to play together as a guild.

The rewards are a bonus but for the new players its just really exciting for them. But to lose to bad players because they have joined the frenzy of botters and macro users is very demoralising for players, including myself.

Yes, yes, and yes [see: EULA].

It's the sad truth, and we all know it. All MMOs are plagued with botters and cheaters, and it's all driven by online demonstrable achievements, which drive their egos into this huge race or competition to be better than the rest [or set apart... *see: elitism*]. And in most cases, they [the cheaters] wind up on top, unfortunately. This is common knowledge, and there's no stopping this. never. EVER.

All we can do is cope, and nothing else. There is no justice, especially not in this 5 year old game [it's even been forsaken by Anet with their dwindling interest in providing any new updates or positive changes].

Point is that the game in itself ( not considering bots ) is already a lot abused ( i.e PvE heavy easy farms with Sin / PvP : dead hour farming , smurfing , etc..) . If now furthermore everyone is even " cheating " ....First things are annoying , but we unfortunately need to deal with these since they're part of game. But , using bots really....
And yes , like Sirius Bsns said , they probably won't do anything because they know the game is dead/dying and thus , there aren't a lot of people that will complain of those

Your guild might not, but it is fact that many players are using bots and macros in SB ATs. We have confirmation from guilds they are, people asking do you use macro, if you dont you cant join them. Last night a guild telling us where to get the macros from.

I know first hand a bunch of people that are placing top 8 consistently in the snowball at's are using bots or macro's. Does anet care enough? No. It sucks for the legit players but yea, whatcha gonna do?

And ofcourse people are gonna deny that their guild is using bots/macro's so I'm not really inclined to take anyone's word for it, specially on this forum.

Create awareness of the problems. Last time the situation in GvG and HA took anet several months to plan and execute a stunning decision resulting in the bans of over 3,500 accounts. Do they care? Of course they do, question is, can they do something about this?

Can't exactly take a screenshot of someone picking up an item exceptionally quickly.

The question then would be, why would they release thousands of USD in rewards for a format where macros and bots have been very prevalent when support will be understaffed?

I can't imagine it'd even be that hard to notice that people are somehow managing to press semicolon + spacebar twenty times in the span of a second.

Sucks the fun right out of the game. This is exactly why many ppl do not participate in PVP.

Looking forward to the next round of bannings and the whining from the "pros" who never bot or use macros but somehow got banned.

At the end of a match you should have to type 5 digit randomly generated code placed onscreen within 1-2 minutes to get any rewards/faction. That would cut down on the unattended bots.

Many players and few guilds was banned when Dhuum got crazy with his scythe , but this year they are back with new accounts/guilds.

This bots are not like farming bots. Ppl are sitting in front of the screen , they make decisions where to go etc. , bot is "only" picking up very fast presents/passing present to other member of the team/dodge kds etc.

IMO only afking guilds don't have macros for presents , i'm talking about simple macro (nearest item + action key in one button).

This is not a simple macro, sure it's simple to code but it's still a marco that's helping you make a profit, a profit in the form of Zkeys.

IMO a simple macro is a basic double clicker.

It's not really against anything to use your keyboard or mouse with integrated macro ability to bind 2 or 3 keystrokes together.
Last year it was a big issue because of bots that were actually using the game data, this time around it's just regular old macros anyone can create.
They still depend on your ping, you spamming the button and you not sucking, last years editions did not.

Besides, cramming everyone who knows how to do DnD and spam target nearest+space together as abusive fags is over the top. Neither is terribly difficult and you see even the top teams make mistakes on these once in a while.

It's such a shame that some people's greed is worth more to them than the enjoyment of a good game using their skill alone. After encountering certain guilds using the bot's and macros in the SB AT's my alliance has decided it's not worth doing any more this year. Speaking to other alliance and guild leaders it seems that most are giving it a miss after encountering the same problem.

So farewell Snowball AT's it was fun for a few years but now GW2 is on the horizon we'll have to wait and see if this format returns the same (if so there really really need to be some changes).

We QQed about this last year and we were closed for this: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/b...highlight=WoTU

Do you guys even know what bots do? you pretty much don't have to do anything, just stand next to the present, no need to touch your keyboard at all.

A simple macros (g11 and g15 keyboard) are widely known to be used and is not illegal and Anet have already said they cannot do anything about that, because you're still performing an action: you are clicking once, and your keyboard presses two. I don't even use a macro and apparently we're a speculative HA guild who are all of a sudden winning ATs. Get your facts straight first.

All of you whiners need to realise that top guilds have been practising and playing this for some time already. Go obs.

And I can vouch for our alliance that none of us guilds are botting.
