So i just started playing again after a LOOONG hiatus. I stopped after proph and have cleared all the way thru and most of it with bonus.

I have Factions/Nightfall and am playing through a little on both, but what I really want to do is earn titles and stuff for GW2.

So i went back to do Proph HM's and can't even do the first one...
I only have one hero (M.O.X) and am using henchies.

Ele attune/fire build, which is what i used for max dam in proph originally.

Do i need EoTN for heroes or is this doable with the right build?

Thanks

Unless you are one of the best players I've ever heard of, you will not be able to complete Prophecies HM with just MOX and Henchies. You should do at least a little work in Nightfall and Eye of The North so you can get some more Hero's if you want to do HM Content.

I assume you mean the area right outside of Ascalon? Or do you mean the first mission? Problem with early areas and missions in Prophecies is you have a max party size of 4. Then too, Ele spells do not really scale up to HM very well. With sometimes two healers in mobs what you need are interrupts or stun and even then it can be very dicey.

What I would personally recommend is that you go to Nightfall, play all the way through with a Ranger. Get the full set of Nightfall heroes and one of them will be a Mesmer. In Domination mode the Mesmer can give you the shutdowns you need. The Ranger can also interrupt.

To make a long story short, yes HM in Prophecies is very doable in the lower levels and the early missions but you do need heroes and a full up character to make it work. I think a Ranger is best for this sort of thing. Others may have different suggestions.

The heroes I run in solo hard mode at the moment with my Ranger are usually:

1. Olias set up as a Necro death magic minion master. Look him up on the wiki.

2. Livia, you can also use Master of Whispers who you will get as a hero in Nightfall, set up as a Necro/Rit healer. Both of these are slight variants of the Sabway model. Look up Sabway on this forum.

3. A Mesmer Hero set up to pump both damage and interrupts with good energy management. You get Norgu in Nightfall who will do very well, and you get Gwen later on in Eye of the North who is prettier!

With my setup I can stroll through hard mode in most areas. But as usual, the hero lineup and the Ranger's skill bar change for specific areas as needed.

Another tip - eles like the above have said become weaker in hm when fire , foes are more resistant and sadly more sensative to aoe and will readily split.
Some tend to use a seperate role in hm - water/air/earth eles or e/mo infusers. When you first go fire ele you tend to go WOW mega damage but when you hit hm with same build you seriously notice a big difference - fun way is fireball ( say 70 dmgnm but 30 dmg hm on same foe type ).Changing build to say air like suggested may deal less dmg but overall in hm sometimes you have to adapt roles and deal less dmg.Infuser ele could mean your heros in 4 man areas can deal the dmg better than you and you can support the heros better.

( Complete noob with all this stuff, thank you for your patience) 1. Level: All heroes obtained in EotN are level 20 from the start. Heroes in Nightfall are mostly lower level and need to be leveled up. For a non-Nightfall character, going to Kamadan and doing a couple of easy quests will get you a pile of level 15 heroes: warrior, dervish, two monks, necro, and your choice of ranger or ele.

2. Weapons: No hero, NF or EotN, comes with perfect weapons. You will automatically get some free upgraded weapons when you pick up the first batch of NF heroes, but they still aren't perfect. So you will need to find decent equipment for whichever heroes you want to use.

3. Armor: Hero armor levels up with them and a level 20 hero automatically has max AR for their class, so you don't need to worry about that. But heroes do not come with any runes or insignia on their armor, and you should add those needed. Their headpieces will automatically add +1 to whatever attribute rune you add to them.

4. Skills: Heroes come with a handful of starter skills and no elite skill. You will need to spend some time capping and buying skills to give them decent bars.

Thank you guys so much for the help, I think my plan now is to get EoTN, upgrade my heroes to perfect weps, and then change up my build to air. I also need to farm some skills for my heroes depending on what build I do.

Thanks again guys!
