if you had read the initial post you would see that i spend most of my days in pvp areas, i had merely entered toa to farm for that time period so as far as i can tell your "renewal" does not actually work
when i was farming heavily in the past we used to have methods of changing regions for client (before you could change them as districts), but this you could only do 5 times per account until you had to scam anet into giving you more changes via email. this turned out to not really work for getting better drops but would allow you access to uw during times at which another region had it. when griffon farming we used to change characters, accounts and ip addresses (via proxying). the only thing i noticed was that newer accounts seemed to have slightly better drops than older accounts. that could have merely been my perception and should not be taken as a statement of fact.
they have definately added code to discourage overfarming of areas over the years. back in divine boon/prot bond invincimonk days you could farm uw all day without any changes in drop rates for ectos and golds. we started noticing the initial "nerfing" of drops around the time that anet started to try and stop people from farming griffons outside of augury rock.
i have noticed that the common practices now seem to be to change to seemingly unused districts and/or to add "leechers" to your party to renew the drops. neither of these methods seem to have any sort of scientific basis to them other than player perception.
