  • Krytan Events

Success against Aily the Innocent lends much hope to the people of Kryta, but it comes with the realization of how much difficulty remains. With each battle, the Shining Blade and its allies face tougher foes and see the war edge ever closer to the seat of power. Princess Salma asks that everyone remain vigilant and resolute, as the worst is surely yet to come.

Note: Princess Salma now offers a new quest - Temple of the Intolerable

  • PvP

    - Adjusted the location of the Guild Lord and some NPCs in the following guild halls:
    Druid's Isle
    Frozen Isle
    Imperial Isle
    Isle of Jade
    Isle of Meditation
    - Defy Pain (PvP): split for PvP; changed skill type to stance; removed damage reduction.
    - Oath of Protection: changed functionality to: "While the Bodyguard is alive, the Guild Lord takes no more than 30 damage from each attack or spell and takes 30 less damage each second."

  • Bug Fixes
    - Fixed a bug that allowed some War in Kryta miniatures to receive buffs.
    - Fixed a bug that allowed High Priest Alkar to drop Alkar's Concoction on the ground during the quest The Destroyer Challenge.
    - Fixed a bug that prevented Disco Balls from triggering fireworks in some outposts.

Developer Update - June 2010 GvG Balances

We have a few large balance projects underway right now. Because today's update is not directly related to any of these large balance projects, we want to clarify what's in the works:
  • Guild battles. We are currently working with the Test Krewe on major possible changes to GvG. This is our top priority, but we expect it to require months to fully test, tune, and compare the changes we are exploring. Today's update is not related to any of the major changes we are testing, but it should address a few of the issues currently seen in GvG.

  • Dervish balance. We are also working on changes to the Dervish, with both PvE and PvP in mind. This is our second priority, and it may or may not be ready at the same time as the GvG changes.

  • Other issues. As always, we have a number of other projects that we are considering based on community feedback. Similar to the changes in today's update, some of these projects may be small enough in scope to be completed and released before the major GvG update. Others will need to wait until the GvG and Dervish updates are finished. We'll keep you updated as things develop.

Yes! If you use henchies in this new mission they are level 10! YES!

Is it really too much to ask to have them bumped to lvl 20 for these new missions? :|

Play with a friend, guildie, or PUG. Or you can try hard mode like me with H/H, which is painfully easy except for the incoming side groups. For that I recommend not going in yet till they're all gone.

Or..they could have just nerfed the mindblast instead of going through all that trouble.

I love you Live Team (not Anet). Don't rush it, get it done right. Ironically, it's kind of sad they have to keep mentioning how balancing Dervs for PvE and PvP is such a huge project.

At least they're not doing like in GW2 and removing them completely, this is why I heart the Live Team when they get their <explicative> together.

Don't feel bad, from the look of the new warrior rangers are getting the axe as well...

If they nerfed MB, another gimmicky lord damage build would arise, and then another, and another. At least this way, the Bodyguard is a necessity for splits to kill to inflict heavy aggressiveness.

It's a temporary solution until a new tiebreaker comes out.

To make it easier, they could always just give Krytan henchmen a Journey to the North type buff.

Am I the only one that's a tiny bit miffed at Dervishes being put on the back burner, followed after "months" of GvG testing?

I just hope they don't touch Wounding Strike for the Dervish (please... for the love of GAWD!). It's perfectly balanced as it is, and nerfing it will simply ruin Dervishes in PvP completely. WS is the cornerstone of every dervish as melee, so unless they're capable of offering up something equally as pressure-filled and worthy of an elite slot without it being OPd, please LEAVE WS ALONE.

I hope they change Anthem of Fury to an increased attack speed shout, but of course keeping balance 110% in mind! For example: Elite Shout: 10e|2ct|15 For 0...4...6 seconds, allies attack 0...25...33% faster. It'd be awesome to have the first IAS Shout ever in Guild Wars. If anyone finds any issues with my suggestion, please elaborate on "why", and perhaps offer up ideas approaching its balance.

Time to buff Mysticism bonus to give the hp & energy every time a dervish skill is activated and make multiple hits with a scythe dervish exclusive.

Except for the fact that we have pistols/rifles. Would make sense if the new version of Ranger is the class that wields these........since appearantly it took warriors about 250 years to master the bow >.>

No problems with a mysticism change, but altering the scythe mechanics would be dumb. They already hosed a perfectly good (in PvE anyway) Ranger build when they nerfed Ebon Dust Aura, and what you're proposing would make even less sense. Not to mention that a change like that would completely undermine Way of the Master. If something like that is going to be done, they might as well make all weapons exclusive to their respective classes and be done with it.

From the looks of the new warrior, it looks like there will be a rangers class. Just happens that warriors will have some bow abilities, but that's not really Guild Wars related though. Love the new quest.

So, how's about that new quest? I can't even seem to get past the bridge because of Alesia.

I just pugged it, fairly easy. However, past the bridge you can get swarmed as mantle will begin coming in from the sides. They don't seem to ever stop completly either, but instead have breaks in between each group. Basically it comes down to killing the boss as quick as you can when you think you have a large enough time frame before the next mantle groups. He'll also spawn more mantle when you go to kill him, so be ready for that.

Also, the group that stays near him can be pulled without pulling him.

there is still some hope but wars evidently mastered both bows and guns in that time

The RIFLE is a single-target ranged weapon that a warrior can use to pull monsters or finish off a fleeing foe.
