Hi i am new to eles but i have came across this build.
do u think its the start of a new farm?

Why Whirling Defence? The mesmer skills are better for reducing damage and maintainging energy (Mantra of earth). Also unless its been changed recently which it might have EBSoH makes a massive boost to sliver, and I also think sliver got nerfed.

Yup Sliver got hit with the nerf stick, it hits a random target every time its activated now. My ele is now gathering dust in the corner until I come up with another farming build.

Sliver as many players who have played for a long time wasnt nerfed - for a long time the actual skill was broken and anet fixed it.Its actual description has been same for ages where it should attack a random ( yes random ) target each time it fires off but was glitched where it attacked same target.
Whirling blades only affects projectiles so is useless against melee foes - once casters are dead ( hoping the mob contains them ) the melee survive along with its long recharge time.
There used to be several variations of earth builds that didnt use sliver at all.

I think you want E/Me, stone striker w/ mantra of earth, there are similar builds out there. Add glyph of swiftness and one or two dmg output and your good.

Depending on what mob you're going up against sliver can still kind of work. You just have to position yourself so that the foe you're trying to kill is the only foe near enough for sliver to hit.

brettm - unless you are going to trawl thru wiki to find the "old" pages you wont really find old info on wiki as when anet changes/fixes anything the pages are updated but just to show you exactly

And even checking wiki`s sliver page it even states the bug at the bottom of the page
"Before the May 21st, 2010 update, Sliver Armor sometimes targeted one particular foe instead of different random foes. "
Maybe you should have read down the page a bit more and got full info instead of jumping at first 2 lines.

Why are you guys even arguing about that? Who cares if Sliver got NERFED or FIXED, it's no longer a viable farming skill. Case closed.

i dont see why silver armour doe snot work anymore... It still worked when I was farming for roaring either claws...just cuz it does not ff on a target now does not mean things wont still die (unless there are heals involved)

Yes, in many cases it still works and foes will die, but too slowly to be practical.

For example, I can still use my SA build behind Oink's house in GoK, but it now takes 15+ minutes to kill all the foes there instead of five minutes or less, and energy management may be a problem towards the end of the run. With the drastic reduction of income, the farm is no longer worth the effort.

In some cases it will not work at all because the foes will outheal the damage. In other cases you will be killed because you're now dealing far less damage than you're taking, or because you can't maintain the skills needed for self defense for the extra time needed to make the kill. For example, you can no longer kill Rekoff before she kills you, so raptor farming with SA is history.

Plain and Simple. Another Useless Skill to add to the ongoing List of Nerfs.. The game is pretty much Boring now that theres nothing to Farm for the Senoir Guild Wars Folks that already done everything. they should just leave the skill alone... dont fix whats not broken.. lol

You guys need to move to a new farm then if you think Sliver cant be used effectively.
I use it for farming Dragon Moss, and the run goes about 1.5~mins quicker then before the bug fix. Making it around 2mins a run xD
