Wintergreen inflation...

Seriously,they're not worth more than 100k each let alone some of the crazy prices I've seen. Why have they rocketed up so much? They weren't worth this much last year.

Do people suddenly want horribly expensive,near useless items?

It's more of a collector item then anything else, and along with the good amount going into a collection, they aren't as abundant.

because they are rare. and many that own them dont want to part with them thats why. and they are worth way more then 100k.

The game isn't making more Wintergreens. Periodically, Wintergreens get removed from the pool via customization/hack/ban.

The game is making ectos and armbraces faster than they get destroyed.

The more desirable Wintergreen items were scarce enough to command 100k+ at release.

It follows that Wintergreen items will be worth more than 100k now.

Must be new to MMO's with rare one time recieved items. Yes expect prices to over time increase indefinitly. Few different reasons.

1. Each and every day thousands and thousands of players get richer.
2. Each year the item gets a year older and rarer.
3. More and more players have quit or somehow 'lost' them making them even rarer.

Everyone in this game takes pride in something, and everyone takes pride or has a need/want for a certain item. And rare collectory type items are among some of the most sought after because of their rarity.

Maybe stat wise they're not worth it. But they are interesting collectors item, and become more and more rare.

They look pretty sweet, they were a one time only (fairly hard to obtain IIRC) item, and some of them do have their uses in pvp (wintergreen shield and spear comes to mind)...hence the validated 100k+ prices.

I love my wintergreen shield. Takes me back to the celestial tournament, which was probably the peak of Guild Wars for me.

Because they probably collect scythes or wintergreen weapons.

*strokes his sword shield and spear*...there mine i tell you MINE!...but i would never customize them...just incase i needed a few ectos ^^

People still buy minipets.

Because these weapons do a LOT more then regular weapons that you don't meet the requirement for, they're very useful. For example, a spear you don't meet the req for does 1-3 damage, iirc. A wintergreen spear does 10-10. This is very helpful in areas like DoA, where the lone perma has to kill off one foe before rez'ing the party. While it's still possible with a regular spear, it's a lot faster with the wintergreen.

Same applies with the other weapons, they do more damage (And thus are more useful) then other weapons you don't meet the req. for.

There over 3 years old and were a limited supply back then, they should be worth more than 100k.

They were only released once and that is why they are worth so much. They are well worth the price imo. I have a full set x3 and I do not regret having them.

Even if not put into use of actual PvE, they are still a trophy item to some.

I think I can completely understand their price mark ATM.

They were a one-time release via.. I think it was predictions on pvp..
I know I won 3 of them and I still have them. Doubt I will ever sell them and they are just really nice. ^^;

That is correct. If memory persists, I believe you were guaranteed at least 1 Wintergreen Weapon if you entered your vote and, one additional one for every correct vote? Can't remember, it's been so long and I hardly paid attention to theevent then since they were worth like a mere 10k at the time. xD
