The recent rash of accounts being stolen and wiped out in a matter of hours has got me thinking: while losing almost everything of monetary value in my chest, on my characters, etc. would be devastating, and knowing that items can't be restored by Support, why not make a couple of simple changes to at least allow players to realistically gain back at least their armor (maybe elite sets only?) by adding an armor trader to guild halls?
First change: make armor so it cannot be salvaged into materials. You'll still need to be able to pull off runes and insignias, and run the risk of the item being destroyed, but the idea is to keep people from, for instance, buying multiple sets of their fow armor, salvaging for ectos, and rebuying.
Second: have the armor trader act nearly the same as the festival hat trader. You show him your armor and he can craft that armor back for you for a fee. It would have no dyes/runes/insignias on it, and would only be craftable for the character that showed the armor in the first place, unlike the festival hats being account-wide.
Recreation of deleted characters is another issue altogether, but I think armor for appearance would be a nice consolation.
What do you think?
