Hacked account?

I suddenly found that my password to Guild Wars is not working. I tried a hundred times to log in, but the same message shows that the account info isn't good.

I asked a friend to help see when I last logged in, and sure enough, apparently someone else logged in when I was sleeping. It is more than clear in this case, that my account has been hacked.

My question is this: What can I do to get my account back?

I tried to use the „reset password” option, but it wouldn't work so easy. I made a NCSoft Master Account, and when I try entering my GW serial codes, it states that they are invalid. What the hell should I do?

Welcome to the ever growing "I've been hacked club".

The only thing you can do is to open a support ticket:

http://www.guildwars.com/support/default.php

They will be able to reset your passwords etc, but unfortuntely cannot/will not reinstate any items or gold that may have been stolen from your account.

The support process is also rather slow and it may several days before it is sorted.

Good luck.

Don't really care about stolen things. I just want the account back. Thanks for the help, really appreciate it. I hope they can sort this thing out.

dont tell them its been hacked because they then put a 2 week ban on the account while they investigate.

pretty wank really, youve already been hacked, now they want you to not play for 2 weeks.

great idea anet.

Don't tell ANet about being hacked so they can't address the problem and will leave more people vulnerable to attack?

Yeah, that's such a better idea.

how about read what he f*cking said, brains.

"Don't really care about stolen things. I just want the account back."

informing them your account was hacked will automatically suspend it for 2 weeks, thats NOT what he wants. Just tell them youre having problems retriving your password. If they do go into the account has been hacked then nothing you can do really but to wait the 2 weeks.

I was in the exact same situation last week ago, and it started with that I couldn't login to my account. Support wasn't that helpful because I lacked the original access keys, but I managed to find out my old NCSOFT account by trial and error and change back my password there.

It seems the Chinese Gold sellers are on the offense now, Anet told me they had deactivated my account due to known gold sellers accessing it. And I'm thankful for that, as all that was missing was my storage gold.. and my shirt :P I guess all my characters would have been naked and stripped otherwise.

In short:
* If you got your access keys, email NCSOFT/ANET and tell them what happened and provide them with your keys.
* If you don't have the keys, try find out your NCSOFT account. You DEFINITELY have one already, as it was a requirement to make one when you first created your GW account. Just that most people forgot or didn't bother with it after.

It took me 4 days to get my account back, not 2 weeks.

Its better to report so ANET can trace what happened, ban the guilty, and try to figure out what happened.

Yeah, well. I e-mailed them already, and made a new NCSoft account in the process. Hope it will go smoothly from now on. Fortunately, I still have the serial keys on me.

1. Make sure you got serial keys
2. Inform anet you were hacked and provide serial keys and as much info as possible
Anet will investigate and i believe put a ban on the account but they will change the password and details and inform you of the changes via support email and they hand the account back to you. You log in and change details with new login details ( they explain how ) and the account will be usable by you again.
I was hacked almost 2yrs ago - i never downloaded anything or visited dodgy sites - its believed another guildie who had me on msn was hacked on msn and had gw in his message title and myself was hacked off his contacts list . He was lucky as only his msn was hacked an he quickly changed his gw details and alas i wasnt as lucky.I lost my hotmail account and gw account - they used to use the email account for new password then screw the hotmail after.
I got my account back after a week but only because i was hacked on a friday - all i lost really was my chrs and most of nf campaign.

Goodluck with regaining the account - anet can take a while as usual but times i suspect theres a lot of hacked accounts to regain.

Not sure how that works because ANET saw my account was stolen before I did and they locked it. So I had a pittance of stuff left. But my EQ2 and Aion accounts were fine. It's like someone(s) have a huge vendetta against GW or NCSoft.

Sorry to hear it. I opened a ticket it's all I could do I would guess they could but they won't restore your account.

i had the same problem, my account got hacked contacted support on the day it happened and it took them a week to get the account back, after which time all the armour and weapons were gone i feel that if Anet had been more helpful then i wouldn't have lost anything, so dont get ure hopes up on them leaving anything on ure account.

if your guild wars account is tied to your NC master account, you can change the password for GW without knowing your old pass

I actually have Anet to thank for letting me keep all my characters and their items after my account got hijacked. All I lost was 500k gold and my shirt (!), but Anet quickly put a temporary ban on the account because it was used by Chinese gold sellers. If not.. I'd probably have all my characters naked or deleted by now. After I emailed them, they unbanned the account again.

Like I said, I made a NCSoft Master Account this morning, but when I try entering my serial keys in order to tie the games to the account, it states that they are invalid. Not sure why it is this way... Oh well.

I sent the serials by e-mail and now I'm waiting for further progress. I'm not really getting my hopes up, after all, I don't really care if I have anything left or not. It's just the hack that worries me and pisses me off.

Thanks for the support, guys.

Because thoose serial keys have already been linked to ANOTHER NCSoft Master Account. The account you created when you first started to play GuildWars. If you don't remember that account then you're not alone, many many people don't remember their accounts as well. This was quite obvious during the free xunlai storage when people suddenly had to try figure out what account they created 3-4 years ago. But you DO have one, you just don't remember it.

Good luck.

You link your existing GW account to an NCSoft account from GW itself when you go to buy an item from the online store. You don't need to buy anything but they will ask that you first link to an NCSoft account. If they made it so you could just make an NC Account and add keys, that would be open to a lot of abuse to existing players' GW accounts.

I was hacked and got my account back via Support. As far as I'm concerned they did a good job.

My account was hacked as well. All my plat, ectos, sweets, alcohol, party points, gold zcoins, black dyes, summoning stones, and FoW armors were taken. I was able to get my account back with 12 hours, but unfortunately, i don't believe there is a way for them to restore my lost items =(
