New production run of Collector's Editions?

I've just recently started playing Guild Wars and bought the trilogy a couple weeks ago, so I've been searching the web for prices and deals on various versions of GW.

Collectors Editions of Factions and Nightfall have been selling on Ebay for as much as $129 or more, with claims of them being "sold out worldwide". Of course I would never pay that much for a mini pet and a couple emotes, but whatever.

Now this morning I discovered new copies of both at gogamer.com for $10.49 each, and many new listings on Ebay for around $40. Of course there are still scammers running the old ads saying they are sold out worldwide and what a great deal you get at $89 for only the key code and none of the merchandise.

I can only assume that A-Net has recently dumped a large quantity of them on the market. Whatever the case, I ordered a copy of each for my second account before they sell out at only 10.49 each.

Just thought everyone would like to know about the cheap price on the 2 collector's editions.

*** I have no affiliation with gogamer.com, just passing along the sale information. This is not an endorsement of any vendor, though I did buy the trilogy from them and it was shipped quickly. If this post is against any rules, I apologize.

I foresee a big price drop in collector's edition mini pets, if it hasn't already happened.

Do you get only 1 mini pet per account or per character?

1 pet per account. and don't be fooled. if it sounds to good to be true it is. you never know though, you just might get lucky.

I bought the Trilogy from them and it was legit, why would they lie about this? Guess it could be a price mistake.

I sent them an email asking about it but I think the other listings are just for the previous more expensive release of the CE's. As mentioned above, they have obviously released new versions of the CE's that retail at $39.99 MSRP. Other online sellers have them listed recently as well. With GW2 being announced its not surprising to see big mark-downs if they got the newer CEs cheap and iin quantity.

Although now that I think about it, if it was a price mistake then I probably shouldn't have emailed them to bring it to their attention. Oh well too late now.

imo i think you should have waited until you received the copies, so that you can confirm that it is actually true before spreading the word.

i bought copies if factions CE for around £16 on amazon, and they came to me totally legit. box unopened, mini pets, the... cloth ritualist pic.... the lot.

some places are just selling them cheaper than others. i'm sure official gaming sites that sell games have policies and conditions, and if you dont get what theyt advertised you can get money back etc

That wouldn't be much help if the sale is over by the time I get it shipped. I waited until after my order was confirmed before I posted it.

I ordered the Trilogy through them at a lower price than anyone else and it was legit. I have no reason to doubt these prices now.

Wow I post info about drastically low prices for a formerly rare item and all I get is complaints and doubt.

no paranoia at all. just don't be disappointed if you get standard edition keys. If Anet/ncsoft were to run/re-print Collector Editions you'd hear it right from them, and it'd prolly be all over this site.

you may have found yourself a deal. then again you may have not. if you did find a deal (leftover store stock, not new editions), you stand to lose out on cash. As you pointed out, ebay can make you money.

I placed an order too. If it is the CE and it's legit, awesome. Practically free Mini Kuunvang to sell for like 100e or whatever its price is now.

If it's the standard edition, it'll be a gift to a friend.

No loss either way for me, unless it phished my CC info.

I'm reading on another forum that they don't come with the pet. I wonder if that's true. Could explain the cheap price

I don't think it's old stock of the original CE's. Like I said, I'm seeing this MSRP 39.99 CE showing up at a lot of online sellers recently, that weren't there when I first ordered the trilogy a couple weeks ago. Ebay is already flooded with cheaper CE's for around $40 so there isn't going to be any buying for 10.49 and selling for 89.00 and up.

The Nightfll description doesn't mention any of the CE items but that could just be a poor description. The factions description mentions the ritualist and assassin emotes but not the pet. So it might be a new version of the CE without the pets. Either way at 10.49 even if its the standard edition its still a deal. At $39.99 I'd be pissed though.

I think that it is extremely unlikely that there would be cheap copies of the Collector's Edition still up for sale, and even less likely that such a product will be produced ever again by ANet.

Neither the $10.49 nor the $69.90 versions list the mini in their product description. The $10.49 one lists it with an (I) but there is no reference to what that means. I know it doesn't say "new" and/or "factory sealed".

In checking their return policy, they will not accept an opened box as a return...but you have to open it to see if the mini code is in there, or not, so don't be expecting the mini. You get what you pay for.

Think of this ~ if there was a new batch of genuine CE's (with the mini) recently released, don't you think that Amazon, Best Buy, etc. would've had these for sale?

Some kind of bootleg then? That would be strange to go to all that trouble and then sell it that cheap.

And not being at Amazon or Best Buy doesn't mean much, its several years old. Any stores around here that still had GW, have it on clearance.

Even if it's just another account, it sure beats a storage pane. If it comes with the signature dances, all the better. As long as the key is included and good, it's a win.

I can't even remember if the mini pet is listed on the box exterior, so if some warehouse supervisor looked at a crate of a few hundred of them and said "hey, let's move these out of here," it may have been overlooked in the item description.

As I see it, at $10 a pop, the possible upside seems to outweigh the possible loss. I spent about that much on dinner last night and it's no longer with me. I hadn't heard of the site before today, and if it's a scam, I'll be glad to share the results. But it's a risk I'm willing to take.

Still, I suppose to the sociopathic skeptics among us everything is sour grapes, and I'm sure we haven't heard the last of them.

the CE key contains the mini and the dances within itself. you aren't getting one w/o the other. Unless anet/ncsoft did a re-run/print of Collector Editions.

/dancenew
/bonus <----been so long I can't remember. I do know it's all in the key code entered.
