Hello,
Are there any Free Trials available for this game? My friends who told me about this game told me about this site, and another site, but I see no mention of a free trial here.
I will maybe signup for trial, but I can download the game right? Or do I need to bug my friends for their install cd's for the game? Mom says we are on limited download plan, how big would the download be if downloaded with no cd's?
Free Trial?

The download is not huge (unsure of size), but it does not load files for each area, you will need to download these each time you enter a new area. Which can get frustrating having to wait 10 minutes for it to load halfway through a quest. You can run the -Image command to avoid these loads, for that you would excpect about 4gb of files.

I was having VERY horrible lag about an hour ago on Guild Wars yet I was getting my full bandwidth speeds(20mb/s) according to numerous bandwidth testers on the internet while connecting to many different data centers to test it with. quite often Guild Wars has lag issues, there is no denying it now since so many people are having troubles with JUST Guild Wars all at the same time.

The only time I have ever had issues with lag was when some servers broke last year (or was it the year before?) and the remaining ones overloaded.
I only get 5MB/s and it runs fine, so don't knock it till you try it.
I also lag but I know it isn't the game with the issues but my shit router that loves to drop my connection....maybe my horrible internal net card as well :sigh:
As for the game being dead and or dying..... No it isn't, the poster is probably assuming the game is dead because he/she had stopped playing long long ago, so in his case the game is dead indeed. But you can still find alot of players if you bother to play.

I am not sure if my friends have a dvd or cd burner, I will ask them on monday when I see them back at school. We don't have all that bad internet here, mom complains that the download limit is too small and gets sad near the end of the month when she has to cut back on what she does.
4 gb of data? That is a fair load to download, mom says we only have 12 gb a month, will definitly see if friends have dvd burner to get files from them. my friends don't play on what they call "special" weekends, said it lags too bad, but otherwise is fine to play, they have plan we are on.
thank you for the help and advice

First i have to say i never used that trail version myself, but i am pretty sure that the only thing that is different from the retail version is your key (limitations).
So, as you said you are on a limited download plan, i suggest you borrow a gamecd/dvd from your friends (preferably latest version like Nightfall or Eye of the North) and install that game. Use your trail-key.
This way you dont need to download the whole 4GB (only the updates that came out since that version you installed from the cd/dvd).
Or maybe even better if you have a external harddisk (fast) or an USB stick (slow) that is big enough to hold the gw.dat file:
- Install the game via friend's CD/DVD, still using your trailkey
- Then copy the GW.dat from the hdd/usb over your GW.dat... when the GW.dat from the hdd/usb was up2date then you probably doesnt have to download at all.
