The King and Queen's 300k+ Horrorween Art Contest

Once again, the autumn winds are starting to blow the leaves off the trees, this can mean only one thing, The Monarch of Madness isn’t far away!

Now then, lets get to business shall we

The Queen of Halloween since 2005 has undoubtedly made an impression on those who where unfortunate enough to meet her in-game, couple this with the fact that we are now a tag team act (I can assure you that a Crazy Queen and The Snowmen King are a volatile mix of holiday fun) leads to an up-coming Halloween Night to remember.

We, the terrible two, have decided that we would like our selves drawn by the finest artists the royal coffers can afford and so designed a contest to enable our wish of having a fresh tapestry depicting our legendary acts.

The RulesThe picture must be either digitally drawn/scratch built or use traditional techniques The piece must include both "Daniel Frozenwind" and "Mad Qeen Malafide" The theme of the picture does not have to be focused on Halloween This contest is open to anyone who feels they want to have a go, I still have other prizes for people that try! No Rabbits. I hate Rabbits. No Mesmers. Malafide hates Mesmers. (This is not directed at you, the player)

Closing date is the 20th of October
The time frame

The reason I have opened up the contest so early is that after speaking with an art friend of mine I have learned, TIME = QUALITY. For the top three positions they must be superb works of art. We want to see the artist make there best effort. We want the picture to have the Artists own style, other then what is in the rules, you are free to do anything! So all entrants have from the opening of this thread until the 20th of October.


The Prizes


[1st] - 100k, 10 Ectoplasm

[Special] - Artist's picture used for the 2009 Horrorween Event Poster

[2nd] - 50k, 10 Zaishan Keys Ectoplasm

[3rd] - 50k, 5 Zaishan Keys and 1 whole pumpkin cookie.

[X] - Random prizes to runners up!

Please note that by submitting art work into this contest, you allow me the right to use the artwork at my leisure, including alterations of the image and/or usage of said image for any non profit projects that I choose.

Edit: If you had taken offense to the rule, it was slightly misleading, It was not directed at players to prevent them participating if they are and play as a mesmer, Its just a joke of Malafide's lore.

I suppose there is no limit in the amount of pieces someone may submit?

I cried too, the first time the queen announced how much she hated my Mesmer... But the wise queen replied: don't be foolish, child, you have 10 other characters that aren't mesmers! Go log one of those!

But Daniel, I do not understand how you can hate rabbits... Fluff for the win! And they would make a nice coat!

Anyone who claims mesmers suck, are simply just noobs, no more than that. Mesmers rule, how about joining a party with one, eh? If it is meant as a joke, dont write it, because it offends primary mesmers.

BUT one thing; you're aiming for perfection? perfection is in the eye of the beholder, and most artists like to free themselves of restraints such as the customer's like and dislikes when doing inspired work. Also, those 3 cash prices are actually quite bad pay if you want the best artists in this forum to do their best and spend ages and ages on something.
I rather hope you settle for whatever you get, that is the gamble of hosting a contest and not choosing a particular artist to do the job for you.

I might enter though.

Only to be beaten by Blue and/or Espadon/the likes and get paid 25k for something I spent >30h on Q.Q

And if people are so offended by a little light hearted canon, then I dont really know how to keep a straight face.

We want the picture to have the Artists own style, other then what is in the rules, you are free to do anything Also on the cash front, I would love to have given more but with the events I do im next to always broke, I have been saving money for this contest for quite a long time. I really hope the contest dosent focus to much on the money and more on having fun while drawing for it @ Ravensong, Traditional techniques are fine!

Ay ay ay, I don't think triple-booking myself with school projects on the horizon is a good idea... we'll see how long it takes me to get my other pictures done.

Besides, 'Dea'd probably kill me if I drew for Mez haters when I still haven't finished that picture of 'Bia in my sketchbook...
