Anyone know how of if it's possible to make some people's volumes louder and others less loud? I can hear some all too well and not others.

Right click the user you want to adjust, and go Miscellaneous, the Special Effects. You will see a volume effect. Increase or decrease until your desired volume is achieved.

I get this message.

then... do it. click on setup, and set the output/input to "use directsound".

a better way to do this is to use the effect called "compressor", which attempts to equalize all volume. do a search on google for the best settings.
