Why play GW?

I'm sitting around today on my day off and just thought of this seeing other people’s posts.

The question is Why do YOU play GW?

I got started on GW my senior year in college, and I have now played for three and a half years. I am by no means a hard core player. I play for the enjoyment and the release from real life hassles and general rainy day lull.
I really enjoy the visual landscapes that enthrall you into the area you are currently in. Seeing mountains, houses, and other random buildings/landmarks in the distance really pulls you into the game. I am an architect in real life and I really appreciate the time and effort put forth to create these wonderful places.

The story is told well in a way in which all levels of gamers can enjoy and get caught up in. It is something that makes you want to keep playing to get to the next quest/mission/cut scene just to see what happens next. I still remember when Rurik died I was so shocked that they did this.

Like I said I am by no means a hard core player, I have played many different characters, and own all the games, and have beaten them all NM and HM. I just got my very first set of FoW armor after nearly 4 years, and that, to me was a great accomplishment.

The game play is great. I like that you can either play with people, heroes, or henchmen and do nearly everything you need/want to do. The social atmosphere of a good guild really makes the game worth sticking with. The mechanics of only 8 skills, and a lvl cap of 20 is one of the main reasons I love this game so much. Unlike WoW (I use WoW because that's the one I know of that takes forever) you don't have to play for countless hours to get anything accomplished. The longest zone/quest I’ve completed was Urgoz and that took 2.5 hours during the free event weekend there.

Basically I play for multiple reasons
-the visuals are great
-the game play and story line really keep you involved
-not having to deal with 25 skills at once (8 is plenty for me)
-not having to play for 500 hours to get a max lvl character before you can attempt the harder material the game offers
-getting on and playing for 1 hour and getting accomplished actual tasks

Well that's why I play and enjoy this game.....WHY DO YOU?

To chat with a few guildies.

I get to kill monsters with my axe.
I get to kill players with my axe.
I play the zquests/bounties/combats.
I visit with my guildies and alliance buds.
I work towards my titles.
I work towards my gear.
I try new builds.
I have fun.

What this wonderful person has said just change the axe on Hammer and we are good to go =)

Because I have nothing better to do and my computer can't handle anything else. That and it feels good when you play successfully.

because even in its broken state its still better than the majority of games that come out

I play GW cuz it has the best PvP. That and I haven't found a game that I enjoy more.

Because it’s paid for and gives me enough enjoyment to salve my boredom. Yeah it’s lost a lot of the original Uh Ahhh, but again its paid for and I can play at anytime for free and get above par MMORG

there is no real reason now but playing to add to ur HoM, hoping that something good will transfer over into GW2, but thats something is all speculation

It's a huge relief from the rest of the other MMO's out there, especially with the fact that it doesn't rely on "tanking and spanking" (well you can do that but it's no longer effective).

While PvE does have it huge share of problems it's still quite unique and fun. Plus the PvP is simply the best out there in the MMO market.

It FUN and not all that grinding. Yes you heard me you can easily play for just 30 min a day and get something done toward your titles. I enjoy the game play, skills, professions, armor sets. I enjoy hanging out with my guild mates and friends that I have made here on Guild Wars. I enjoy the weekend events (ones that I am interested in). Wintersday in July FTW! All in all this game is definitely a 9/10 rating for me. Oh and NO ONLINE FEES!!

I play because I like the Guild atmosphere, am chilling out, or to just escape rl for a few hours.

Friends, competitive missions and because once you get most of the skills that are decent or better, you can roll whatever class you want and play it with relative ease.

Doing some Zquests now and then, saving up for one of those big equipment packs, which I don't need. Got my GWAMM a months or so back, so I'm a bit a lost what I'd like to do next. Maybe quit GW, and return when something new surfaces.

Playing other games too, but going from GW everyday to no GW for a whole week sparked some kind of acute withdrawal syndrome, so I'm slowly getting myself used to a life without GW.

I play it because it appeals to me, I think it's the best 3D MMO I have ever played (it runs great on most hardware) and It is free to play monthly. You buy the games (all 3 games)/expansions (by expansions i mean EoTN and the Bonus Mission Pack) everything stays with you, it's always there for you to play and achieve things on more then one character, on more than one profession, and in more than one way, at any time.

I like GW because it has steered clear of cookie cutter MMO's. And I just plain love it. Been playing 3+ Years.

I want an everlasting cottontail tonic. I'm sure i'll find another reason after i get that. (maybe a mini white rabbit)

Only reason i play

I play it because I enjoy playing it.
4 years later, I still enjoy it.
With it's ups and downs,
nerfs and buffs,
I still enjoy it.
An awesome guild,
many friends,
the beautiful landscapes,
those ugly foes,
funny tonics,
all the minis,
my challenged heroes,
sexy armors,
and all for free,
HELL YEAH
I play it because I enjoy playing it.
