It's a bit silly to be able switch your toons gender but be stuck with the old name, which most of the time would be unfitting for the changed gender. It currently costs 25$ if you decide to buy both the name change and makeover which is a bit extreme for just an aesthetic change.
Please bump up the cost to 15$(same as Name Change) and add this option to the 'Extreme Makeover' pack.

Or you could just be happy with your original character and stop bitching about everything.
|
If you're a roleplayer, what your character looks and feels like can make a big difference to the game. You're happy with your character, that's great. But don't assume that everyone is, or everyone plays the same way you do. I think you'll find an awful lot of people have used the option to breathe new life into old characters. Not all players care, but there's nothing wrong with caring.

By this logic, Anet would have wasted a lot of money in the new upgrades, which people, apparently, DO use.

Just ignore the other people who say "wow how stupid" or that other kind of stuff. Anyways, I also agree but how about the people who have already bought the extreme makeover pack, will they be able to get a name change as well?

It would make sense for the gender change to include a name change.
That said I really don't see why anyone would need some of these changes, I mean just how many hours play is needed to decide that the gender or name of the character is wrong.
I recon I restarted several characters within an hour at most because I didnt like the look of the character.
Hated male necro so went female that took me about 5 minutes, hated some of the dances and again restarted character.
Name changes well there I am fussy and take ages to pick a name so am usually happy.
But if you have a character well advanced in the game and now want to change then I understand your reasoning.
Hairstyle however I would want to do but its just not worth it when I will be moving to GW2 soon enough.

Totally agree on this. Gender changes can be quite costly without it.
At least add a discount onto name changes.
Gender + name change pack-- 20$
Don't feed the hungry trolls. v.v

This isn't a bad idea actually. I agree that $15 is way too high for a name change on one character. If it was for 5 characters like the regular makeover credits, great. But for just one? Um...no...
It wouldn't be a bad idea to include it in the extreme makeover, but what if you just wanted a name change and not a gender one? You'd have spent money on something you only wanted half of. At the very least if the name change only works for one character, make it like $5 instead of $15. And while we're at it, I think the $10 is reasonable for 5 regular makeover credits, as that's 5 characters you can "remake". $10 for one extreme credit is too high in my book. But in conclusion, I'd prefer if both makeover credits included the name change feature; they lower the price of the name change to $5, $10 tops; or the $15 name change charge includes 5 characters like the makeover credits.

I agree if your of a roleplaying mindset then name and look does mean a lot.

/signed definitely on including optional namechange with extreme makeover
Oh and as for moving to GW2, you're probably not familiar with the annual financial reports released the end of last year showing that GW2's planned release date is looking to be at least 2 years away, if not more. So if that's soon enough, are you still getting plenty of use out of pacman/space invaders? good investment

Not everybody is like you, some people do recreate their characters, but some peop-le simply love the character they first create and then get bored. It makes sense allowing them to modify the look of their characters for a reasonable proce.

If I create a character of one gender getting bored and changing to the opposite gender and name isn't an option.
There has to be a role playing reason for everything in my gaming universe.
Prices are too steep though and I assume that's to make people carefully consider changes and not change on a frequent whim.

You are digging your own grave by supporting the micro-transaction/buying micro-transaction. If no one buys them, it will be change, if players continue to pour money in, it will remain.

A lot of people seem to have the opinion, I've seen it a lot of times, that game companies are "rich", because a lot of people play them. But those same people don't know about game company's expenses, payroll, rent, electricity, advertising, shipping, programming, all sorts of things. Even if a million people buy your game, it's not a huge profit. Wake up and smell the coffee.
GW is a game that's free to play. If they want to make a couple of extra bucks to support programmers who add content, fix bugs, or whatever, I'm all for it.

I disagree. You're digging your own grave by NOT supporting the games and companies you like. I happily spend money on micro purchases. It's not digging a grave, it's building a future.

There is a lot of money made in the gaming industry though a lot of it is in console games rather than computer versions.
The companies that write the games are frequently quite small and they are often writing the game for another bigger development company that then markets the games.
Those small companies are by no means rich and its very hard for them to find resources to keep working on games that are basically done with and already on sale.
At least that's what I have read.
The add ons cost what they cost and that's all there is to it, GW is quite an odd game in this respect its had more fixes add ons and improvements than any dozen previous games I can think of.
It may be common practice in this type of game but not elsewhere
