It is call the Removal of Storage.
What players get in return is a list of things they own text base in a pop up window. you access this window in the game itself with a set of password.
How it works, everything a players get are recorded in text from. The only things that need appear "physically/in pixel" are weapons that you are using on your character, you assign them the weapons using text format, once its place into your character weapons and armors slot it will materialized. Otherwise there need not have any "physical" in an online game case, it need not pixelized in any storage. It will merely be a text record of how much gold you have, and what item you own. Off course they are tradable, also text base. All transfers need to be recorded text base from one account to another account.
What this does
extra password for security
minimize server usage since all the little graphical icons are removed from the game.
keeps track of all transaction, when you are hacked and things removed from your record, it can be traced back and return to you.
This is what I can come up at this moment, I would appreciate a discussion on this issue and the goal is to come up with the ultimate best ways to prevent hacking, or to safeguard our game items and gold, and in a worse case scenario be return to their rightful owner.
If you have a better idea, please share them. I won't be taking time arguing with you weather my ideas is good or bad. thats solely your opinion. What I want is a solution to this annoying Thieving that ran amok even as we speak.
Thanks for Chipping in. any and all constructive input are welcome.

I think like you guys/gals once, because I am one of the most paranoid almost to the point of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder type of paranoia person i known. You may think what you like, I know I did not do anything to compromise my account information nor visit any "illegal" webpages. Every time someone complain about getting Hacked on the forum. I quietly think what you guys listed until I get hacked myself. Simultaneously, all 3 of my accounts that was recently linked on the ncsoft new system. So say whatever hurtful things you want to say. And I truly hope you guys/gals do not get hacked yourself.
Besides this system once developed, it isn't even to revive my Violated Accounts, because they can't. Its for Guys/Gals like you who has not get hacked yet, so that you will be able to get back what you have if the unforeseen occur because i feel the lost.

Getting hacked randomly is impossible. Getting hacked by downloading a virus such as a trojan keylogger is not impossible. Therefore: dont be a retard about internet security and dont go to shady websites which may have trojans. If getting a torrent of something make sure it was verified by the community. If getting something from a friend in real life dont care about tryin to find a virus in it unless you dont actually like him. If there was no such thing as people who didnt know how to not download viruses or how to only trust trustworthy people, then those people deserve to be hacked just cause they are so stupid.
4years of playing gw, never hacked once.
3 years of runescape, never hacked once
2 years of wow, never hacked once.
Been playin all sorts of online games for 5 years. Never hacked before cause im not an idiot

samerkablamer,
you seem very sure that I've downloaded a keylogger or trojan or have been careless with my accounts and passwords. Let me ask you this: how is it that only the 3 accounts that was recently linked on the ncsoft master accounts to get the free storage pane are simultaneously hacked, when my other accounts which are not linked is not violated?

You don't have to be on an illegal web site or give out a password to get hacked.
Anyone using tools like youtube are putting themselves in a position to get hacked...not alot you can do to prevent a chance hack when visiting a Guild site either. 2 of many. Just bad luck sometimes
Oh,...no, I haven't been hacked

Arena Net need to have a system whereby to revert our accounts when it is being violated. Arena Net also need to have a system where they can trace what is being traded between players
Hacking someones account isn't some petty crime its a crime that warrant legal actions and police involvements. Why, because it involve Real Money Trading, the reason someone would hack another person account from way across the globe is to get their in game items and transform it into Real Money. I don't see this as a small time petty theft crime. If online game company really wants to end the frustration of their game being involve in Real Money Trading, they should have a system to trace the culprit. Even if you don't want to revert our account, you should be able to trace and report the criminals so that legal action may be taken against them.
This is a crime that involve Billions of Dollars.
I also don't see how players not want a system where Arena Net would secure their game stuffs/items, as in reverting their account to the state right before they get hacked, unless they are hackers themselves, or they hate me so much that if this were an idea brought up by someone else it would receive more yes votes.
Arena Net need to do something, anything to prevent any such incident hand in hand with the players.

While I obviously can't be sure about this, I think it's pretty much like that. I don't really think ANET is sending the 'picture' of a weapon to another place if someone takes it from storage, just the data. Pictures are client side, so having a text form storage would just look ugly, but have actually no real use. And like other people have said before, there's no such thing as 'hacking' in this game, just people who download keyloggers etc.
E: Oh and the billion-dollar-crime. It (The grinding for money, obviously not stealing other people's accounts.) might be against the games' EULA, but if it's legal in china (and most likely is, and in other countries aswell) there's nothing they can do about it except banning the RWTs.

Really annoys me how people get on their high horse about how everyone who gets hacked is an idiot and deserves it. Sure, it would be great if everyone who uses the internet was a tech geek - there would be no spam (cos it wouldn't work on anybody), there would be no malware (because everyone would run security software that is 100% effective, nobody would fall for any scam, and nobody would visit suspicious sites not even by accident).
The reality is, the public at large are not tech geeks. They don't know what sites are dodgy. they don't have security software that is 100% effective (nobody does). They use the same email address and password on multiple sites and it only takes one weak site, or a rogue admin, and your login details will be compromised on every site the so-called "hacker" cares to try. These people don't know any better and they don't "deserve" to get burned or punished for that. And, even cautious people make mistakes.
I'd say I am more savvy than average, and I take a lot of precautions. I use a lot of security software, I use different email addresses and passwords for different sites. I never share my passwords. I avoid dodgy sites. But that doesn't mean I stick my head in the sand, and assume I can never, ever, have my account compromised. Nor do I assume that everyone who had their account stolen is a moron who deserved it. Rather, I think the morons are those smug people who think they are invulnerable. (You can mimimise your vulnerability, but NOBODY is 100% invulnerable)
I've never been "hacked", and I hope it will stay that way. But if the worst should happen, I'd welcome any measures that a-net can put in to ease the pain for people who had their accounts stolen. But, they'd need to do it in a way that is as unobtrusive as possible - and I'm not sure this suggestion fits with "unobtrusive".
Personally I don't care much about items - its the characters (and their titles, unlocked skills/missions/locations/HM etc) I don't ever want to lose. So I'd rather see the option to permanently lock a character against deletion. And I'd pay for that.
All the nay-sayers, who think they are invulnerable, who think that everyone who lost their account is an idiot who deserved it - how selfish, inconsiderate, and childish. So what if YOU don't need features like these? Why do you want to deny it to others?

No, if you get your account stolen it's your own fault but the idea made me think, now I still work on my Legendary Defender Of Ascalon title and sometimes i'm VERY reluctant to leave it on since people use the computer other than me, I could password the computer but they would probably be like "oh I wonder if switching it off will allow me access!" because they're dumb.
Anyway the storage idea is one thing but why isn't there a safer character deletion? My 4 year old nephew could probably type all the names of my characters and delete them for the lulz. That or when I have friends over and I leave the game on, they're curious to play, I have no character slots they don't bother saying anything and just delete a character to make their own. (Unlikely to happen but just throwing that one out there)
I understand leaving your account on again like getting your account stolen is your own fault BUT in some cases it's not because of negligence that something could get deleted.

I don't agree with changing storage as mentioned by the OP. Honestly, if someone can get the password for logging into your game then it's not going to be much harder to get your password for storage too. I'd suggest this as an alternative:
a 4-digit storage pin to open your storage would be a possible solution (if it's good enough for credit cards it's good enough for GW storage), where upon entering it incorrectly 3 times in a row would lock your storage for 24 hours. This would have to either be a toggleable option, or a secuity add-on offered by xunlai agents. pay them whatever gold for a security add-on whereby you can lock your storage any time you want by entering a pin, and having to use the same pin again to open it. This would mean your storage would be left open if you decided not to use this option. The benefit to this method would be that you could use a different pin every time you lock your storage.
This is something that I would consider more important with regards to account security, especially at this late stage in the game. The time and effort people have put into character accomplishments is worth more than what items they may have in storage (to most people at least). An option to protect certain characters fom deletion for maybe 6 months at a time would be ideal. Another button next to the delete/create buttons titled "protect" or somesuch, where you can enter your account password to protect the character from deletion. please?!

First of all, no one deserves to be hacked.

Thirdly: I'm sorry you were hacked pumpkin, and I know you're mad, but please make sure and adhere to the forum guidelines. ANet knows we want something like this. Ever seen people have been getting hacked they've been clamoring for more security. The answer from ANet is always, "Use a stronger password," or "Change your password more often." They're not going to do anything about it. The link in my signature might give you a good indication of their attitude towards most of the players.
With that, I'm going to go ahead and close this, since it's mostly a duplicate thread and people are only going to be harsh.
