For a moment, I was prepared to write, "It's not April 1 yet".
I like how the Siege Devourers look. But in general, they really have butt-ugly faces.
Game-wise, I can't stand them. They popup all over the place in Prophecies just like scarab beetles. Popups are nothing but a huge annoyance in Guild Wars. They are overused as a gimmick to setup a cheap ambush. I can tell that they only exist to just slow down players from getting somewhere. ArenaNet stuffed them all over the chokepoints in the map so you can't just run past every monster spawn.
As an aside, I noticed that ArenaNet likes inventing monsters that waste a lot of players' time. Like the Incubus in Eye of the North that just repeatedly fly down, then leave, then they repeat this (annoying) cycle over and over until you kill them all. Or how Margonites have that boring Abbadon's Chosen skill that is basically designed to annoy players, especially since they will often merge it with Abbadon's Favor for cheap infinite healing.
