So are those skins expensive because they are pretty and coveted that much, or just because they are rare and people just want to show off their 'hard-earned' equipment.
Seriously, I still think my Shadow Bow tops the Silverwing anytime, and the Tengu Sword/Shield combo ANY Emerald or Obsidian. Which is a good thing, as soon as one of those weapons on your list drops for me I'm able to sell it for phat loot, being glad I got rid of the ugliness.
6 million people and only several desirable weapon skins.

Almost everyone I know owns a second account as well. I guess it was never more than 3,5 milion individuals who played the game...

This is so pointless, you just listed all the high-end items, as items that 'look good' . Just because they are rare, doesn't mean that the majority of people find them desirable. It's your own opinion that counts, not the opinion of how many ectos it is worth.

Go to wiki, pick a weapon class, and look through all of them to find one that you truly desissireable for you to you.

In the end, you'll be happier going for a combination that YOU like.
I have a couple of guildies who are perfectly happy wearing Prophecies starter armor skins from Kaineng Center. They've found the (usually common) weapons and dye combos to match and boast a very personal style that doesn't look cheap in the least. |
no need to bother development right now, although if GW2 never releases i'm gonna be pissed lol.

They may be expensive but most of those skins are truly hideous imo. The Obsidian Edge / Silverwing bow are 2 that i might take but i certainly wouldnt pay over the top prices for them and it would really depend on them fitting into the armour/weapon look that i want to achieve.
Using items becuase they are rare/expensive just shows how much of a sheep you are in my view. Most of the really expensive combos just earn a laugh at the stupidity of the player.
Design your chars around how you like them to look not what you think people will say about your massive e-wang.

That's what this "it's all subjective" really is. Hype.
I find it hard to believe that so many people like the over-used armor/weapon combos. The argument "they wear them to stand out" fails when you take into consideration that a very large number of people wear them. How can one stand out from a throng of black-obsi-chaos-gloves-wearing monks by wearing the same?
And what's the deal with black dye? It sucks as hell since the dyes were updated. Old black looks waaaaaay better because it doesn't destroy material textures like the new one does.
My impression is that people flaunt their wealth, just as they do in RL, without thinking about aesthetics. To them money equals good looking. GW manifestation of this philosophy are hordes of black-obsi-chaos-gloves-torment-shield-voltaic-spear users. IRL you have botox parties and women with large implants.
In both GW and RL this philosophy results in unnatural and plain ugly.

No Storm Bow? That's one of the best looking skins of all weapons. I guess it's not 100K + ectos it doesn't meet the OPs parameters of "desireable." (even though when I'm playing my ranger with others - yeah, I PUG!
- someone always comments on how good it looks, they want one, etc.
No celestial staff? Another pretty cool looking weapon that fails to meet the OP's high expectations!
Who cares if a weapon costs a boat-load? If it looks hideous, the only reason to have it would be to boost one's e-peen. And has been pointed out by several others, this usually makes the person's character look just plain silly.

Interesting fact: you see quite a number of people in AB asking, at the start of the game, what's the skin of your weapon? (I'm one of them as I don't know many skins)
When I got my stormbow (r9!) from zchest, tried it and loved it very much. Then discovered it can fetch a nice (though not huge) price. I don't care. Also love my celestial shield with ele sword, that once had "value". Their value to me is, as the credit card ad says, "priceless".
Agree Kook~NBK~ celestial staff is beautiful. Also loved the dryad bow.

Snoozer, sounds like you will be leaving GW soon due to the lack of cool skins and dissatisfaction of new skins not being produced by ANET. Before you go please leave me all your money, items, minis and anything else you deem valuable. I promise you I will get some extra milage out of your old stuff.
Thanks for your consideration.

I think the OP was talking about high "value" skins (ones that go for 100k+). This is not a subjective thing - it's easy enough to see what skins go for a lot of money.
However, I think the OP is missing an important point - as M'Aiq pointed out - these skins are valuable because they are rare AND hard to get. Simply making new skins won't make them worth anything if, for example, they drop in some easy to farm dungeon like CoF. So, to make new "high value" skins, ANet would not only have to design the skins, but figure out ways to make them hard to get.
(And, naturally enough, the former "high value" skins would become less valuable because people would now want the new skins.)

There are tons of weapons with desireable skins. I put a collection list together for JUST swords... came up with 20 swords I would like to own. albeit r8 15^50.. none the less they are nice skins. Axes have plenty, hammer has plenty.. etc etc...
Don't cry over spilt milk that.. wasn't actually spilt. There are plenty of very very interesting and cool looking weapons/offhands for all classes that are easy enough to obtain. The really cool stuff should be hard to obtain because it's A) high in demand.. B) low in supply... Using your brain you should surmise that that means they are hard to get.
GW1 has tons of great weapons, I can't wait to see what GW2 has instore..
Gothic dual axe from my dream last night?!?! Gothic axe blade design.. 6 foot long handle. 2 foot long blades..
!!!
