Prediction: When will Anet release GW2 information?

ArenaNet has taken a "silent" approach to the development of GW2, stating that everyone in the studio is quite busy at work on it. Because of this methinks they plan a huge PR event in the future to announce the game with screens, date of beta and release, the kind of stuff to remind that your game actually exists. But when will this happen? During April, the month of the 4th b-day of GW1? During the revamped E3 in May? During PAX in August? Never? WHEN?

My money is on April 28, 2009. The exact birthday of Guild Wars 1 (as in official release date )

I also personally think that NCSoft needs to kick ANet in the butt about this, considering recent negative events affecting the company (Lord British leaving, Tabula Rasa shutting down, the reorganization of NC West, the whole Worlds.com lawsuit, etc.). NCSoft needs some emotional boost for the stockholders, and a big PR event for the sequel one of their best selling games makes sense to do so.

Let me first state that this has been bothering me aswell, and while I can see the advantage of withholding information, I see more negative benefits from it and since we play gw1, it obviously is a burning question to all of us.

I would like to reference a comment made by Gaile last year, in which she stated they would be sharing concept art/beta/etc... in 2008 about gw2. Obviously they pushed back the beta, and no other info has come to light.

I would like to agree with your prediction on the 4th bday of gw, but knowing anet and its' ways, it will probably be an arbitrary day with no real-life significance. And I also don't expect info for quite awhile, to my own dismay.

They announced GW2/GWEN exactly 2 years ago in April, so that makes me think they would do so again. (I forgot to post that in the OP)

maybe theyre waiting till a few months before release so the hype doesnt have a chance to go down before its on the shelves.

blizzard gave info about diablo 3 a while back and now its out of the spotlight again..actually yeah witholding information about your game doesnt make much sense when ya think about it. showing stuff = people talking and telling their friends = advertising & marketing = sell more copies

Exactly, as long ago as it may have been about Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 announcement, I am MUCH more hyped about it than GW2, because they have stuff to look at, and most ppl I know are anticipating it greatly...and they haven't heard much if ANYTHING about guildwars.

You can make the argument that diablo/starcraft/blizzard are long established with deep roots, but most of the people I know hyped up about diablo 3 were not around for diablo 1 or 2, and especially not starcraft 1.

Never: Gw2 is vaporware.

But in all seriousness, it really should be some time in the first half of this year, seeing how we were supposed to have at least a single picture some time last year. How do you postpone giving a screenshot, anyway? Unless there's nothing to give a screenshot of...

I'ld say somewhere in the area of 3-6 months before release. Being optimistic and expecting a release by the end of the year, then... 22nd of July.

Ideally they'd release a ton of stuff around CES or one of the other game shows.

Anyways, they've been taunting us by keeping us in mind that there is 'gw2' and staff is busy with it at the moment and nothing more. NO other information besides that.. it's been much too long now, i demand more information on gw2 from them now!
